ABC's Gibson grilled Palin hard, but it may backfire

Gov. Palin may have her faults, but it seems the biggest fault is that she is not full of hate for the common citizens in this wonderful country. She does not dispize people who work to make life easier for the wealthy. She loves America and what it stands for.

America, love it or leave it.

ABC's Gibson grilled Palin hard, but it may backfire - UPI.com: "There were no surprises, no knockout zingers, but also no bloopers Thursday night in Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's first TV interview since becoming the Republican vice presidential nominee.

Charles Gibson of ABC News was out for blood and inherently applied a double-standard compared with the kid gloves George Stephanopoulos used on Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois on Sunday night.

Gibson was out to embarrass Palin and expose her presumed ignorance from the word go. By contrast, when Obama referred to his 'Muslim faith' on Sunday and did not correct himself, Stephanopoulos rushed in at once to help him and emphasize that the senator had really meant to say his Christian faith.

By contrast, Gibson tried to embarrass Palin by referring to her Christian faith in asking people to pray for U.S. soldiers in Iraq. Palin countered by pointing out she was following the precedent set by Abraham Lincoln."

How To Make Palestine Go Away

I notice that the Media does not cover the Gazan Civil War with the same verve that they used to cover the "Iraqi Civil War" the the AQ piggies kept trying to incite, with Media assistance. Meanwhile, More Gazan terrorists are killed by other Gazan terrorists than Israelis, so there is nothing worth reporting. Media bias? What Media bias?

It is great to see that Hamas is failing no that they have the power. It is not so great to see that AQ is helping with the fighting. Who do you root for when the fighting is between terrorist thugs?

Israel: How To Make Palestine Go Away: "Israel has refused to free a 1,500, or even a thousand, Palestinians from jail, in return for the release of an Israeli soldier held (for two years) by Hamas. Israel has offered to release 450 Palestinians (and mostly low level offenders, not the killers and terrorist leaders Hamas wants). Thus negotiations with Hamas are deadlocked. Meanwhile, the Israelis have been warning their citizens to beware visiting nations with large Moslem populations, because Hezbollah has begun a large scale effort to kill or kidnap Israelis overseas, this being the easiest way to strike at Israel (at least according to Hezbollah thinking.)

Hamas is in a downward spiral. Opinion polls show that Hamas would receive only 29 percent of the vote if elections were held today, versus 43 percent for Fatah. The problem is that the economic problems in Gaza (largely the result of Hamas insisting that its main goal is the destruction of Israel) have changed attitudes towards Hamas (but not towards Israel, which most Palestinians still want destroyed, or at least hurt in a big way.) The hatred of Israel by Palestinians appears to be implacable, and unlikely to change any time soon. There is growing armed opposition to Hamas in Gaza, largely from al Qaeda affiliated groups. But this opposition is not strong enough to really threaten Hamas control. The Hamas reaction solution to its problems has been to build a police state in Gaza. This is not popular, but Hamas has sufficient popular support (at least a third of the 1.5 million population) to make this work. Egypt is concerned that Hamas will provide a base for Islamic terrorists, and their attacks into Egypt. A solution being talked up in Egypt is the takeover and annexation of Gaza. Israel would have to agree to this, and is apparently giving serious consideration to the idea. That has resurrected the old proposal that the West Bank be given back to Jordan (which used to control it, but give up its claims after the Palestinians decided they were a separate people four decades ago). Jordan already has many Palestinians, who comprise over half their population. Jordan has never been keen on acquiring more Palestinian citizens (the royal family that rules Jordan is Bedouin, and relies on the Bedouin minority to stay in power.)

Meanwhile, Israel has made it very difficult for Palestinians to travel between the West Bank and Gaza. Israeli counter-terror operations in the West Bank are as active as ever, keeping the terrorists neutralized (as they have been for several years.)

Israel has supplied Fatah with several thousand assault rifles and pistols, as well as vehicles (armored and unarmored.) Israel has also released about a thousand West Bank residents from jail. Most of these were being held for low level offenses, but the gesture has made Fatah more popular. "

Challenges still to prevent future acts of terrorism

While this article blames the reason for the majority of terrorist acts on Australians on the governments alliance with the US, I think that is a seriously big stretch of the truth. The truth is that the Muslims want to conquer the world for Islam and Allah. Not everyone seems to understand that, even when it is taught in every mosque and all over the internet in videos. The Left and their butt monkeys in the Media have conspired to keep the Proles ignorant until the bloody end so that the Conservative Right will be shown to fail.

Challenges still to prevent future acts of terrorism - Opinion - Editorial - General - The Canberra Times: "The threat within Australia now comes not so much from outsiders, but from home-grown elements. The usual motivating factor for home-grown terrorism is the perception of the host nation's participation in anti-Muslim activities.

Home-grown Islamist terrorism can take three basic forms: the small group of (usually four) friends influenced by a strong leader within the group; the larger group influenced by a charismatic preacher; and the group of temporary-resident tertiary or postgraduate professionals.

There is another category which is not necessarily Islamist. It involves a fixated, sometimes politically motivated, individual, who feels that he (rarely she) has to act violently against a prominent individual or group held responsible for his misfortunes or society's ills.

Often, potential terrorists are disaffected by their perceptions of discrimination and an inability to fit into the host society."

Obama campaign confronts WGN radio

This is a very interesting article. Fair and balanced, covers both sides, yet is about Obama. Interesting.

Obama and his supporters are right to block this investigation into his past. The only thing that we should know about Obama is that He is for Hope and Change and is Black. His past, friends, family, speeches, and writings are all off limits. Who cares what He has done anyway? He is the One and we will all be blessed by His presence as our Leader. The Future is all that matters! Hope and Change!

I should get a job at the HuffPo for writing that. However, if I had to think that way daily, I would probably vomit myself to death.

Obama campaign confronts WGN radio: The Swamp: "Sen. Barack Obama's campaign organized its supporters Wednesday night to confront Tribune-owned WGN-AM in Chicago for having a critic of the Illinois Democrat on its air. ( (Listen to the interview.)

"WGN radio is giving right-wing hatchet man Stanley Kurtz a forum to air his baseless, fear-mongering terrorist smears," Obama's campaign wrote in an e-mail to supporters. "He's currently scheduled to spend a solid two-hour block from 9:00 to 11:00 p.m. pushing lies, distortions, and manipulations about Barack and University of Illinois professor William Ayers."

Kurtz, a conservative writer, recently wrote an article for the National Review that looked at Obama's ties to Ayers, a former 1960s radical who later emerged as a school reform advocate in Chicago.

The magazine had been blocked in its initial attempts to obtain records from the University of Illinois at Chicago regarding a school reform initiative called the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, which Obama chaired and Ayers co-founded.

Obama critics were quick to suggest that political clout could be involved in seeking to protect Obama from embarrassment. The school later reserved its position and made the records available Tuesday.

On Wednesday evening, Obama's campaign urged supporters to call the radio station to complain.

"Tell WGN that by providing Kurtz with airtime, they are legitimizing baseless attacks from a smear-merchant and lowering the standards of political discourse," the note said.

"It is absolutely unacceptable that WGN would give a slimy character assassin like Kurtz time for his divisive, destructive ranting on our public airwaves," the note continued. "At the very least, they should offer sane, honest rebuttal to every one of Kurtz's lies."

Zack Christenson, executive producer of "Extension 720 with Milt Rosenburg," said the response was strong.

"I would say this is the biggest response we've ever got from a campaign or a candidate," he said. "This is really unprecedented with the show, the way that people are flooding the calls and our email boxes."

Christenson said the Obama campaign was asked to have someone appear on the show and declined the request."

Free History Project demands that History be kept caged

So, History needs to be Freed from its use by the Right? Only the Leftists who want to revise it are allowed to use it? Interesting! Keep up the good work hippies!

As an amateur historian, I love to find little historical tidbits to contemplate and to regale others with. Some people think that I should be sent to Gitmo as a professional torturer and just tell these tidbits to the inmates. Others think that might be too cruel. I am not sure if I should be insulted or not. Help keep history safe. Keep it away from censors and hippies.

Lucianne.com News Forum: "The Berkeley-based nonprofit Free History Project has sent a cease-and-desist letter to a right-wing political group which used footage from one of the project’s documentaries in a new ad that tries to tie Barack Obama to 1960s-era radical William Ayers. The letter demands that all broadcasts of the American Issues Project ad, now running in Michigan and Ohio, be halted as a violation of copyright law."

U.S. attack may have cemented bin Laden, al-Qaida alliance

If President Bush hadn't attacked the AQ bases, then the Taliban would not have protected them and aided them, allowing them to plan the 9/11 attacks and ... Never mind. Bush was just a governor back then. He probably tricked the Clintons into the attacks! Even though they were the smartest Presidents EVER and Bush is a low grade moron.

Amazing how this wonderfully Left leaning paper never mentions any President in this article. If there had been ANY way to pass the buck to a Republican, you can bet they would have. Over and over again. Just to drive home the hint.

Nation & World | U.S. attack may have cemented bin Laden, al-Qaida alliance | Seattle Times Newspaper: "The U.S. cruise-missile strike on an al-Qaida training camp in Afghanistan in 1998 was meant to kill Osama bin Laden. But he apparently left shortly before the missiles struck, and newly declassified U.S. documents suggest the attack cemented an alliance with his Taliban protectors.

The State Department documents released Wednesday provide details of the evolving relationship between Taliban leader Mullah Omar and al-Qaida chief bin Laden over four months in 1998. The period begins Aug. 21, 1998, one day after the U.S. launched 62 Tomahawk cruise missiles at two al-Qaida training camps in Afghanistan as retaliation for the bombings of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania on Aug. 7 of that year. Bin Laden was believed to be at one of the camps, but he left shortly before the missiles struck.

Omar said publicly on Aug. 21 that he would continue to protect bin Laden."

Obama, Criminalizing Politics & Thinking The Unthinkable

The Wolf finds some facts about the Liberals and their communist tendencies. What a great job.

Wolf Howling: Obama, Criminalizing Politics & Thinking The Unthinkable: "Conservatives have for decades largely ceded the spheres of eductation and media to the far left. Today we see the bitter fruit of that situation.

There are many things deeply troubling about the far left in America. Their disdain for democracy and utter refusal to contenance dissenting speech are at the top of the list. But, now on the verge of actually taking control of the police power of the U.S. in the November elections, the far left are going beyond intolerance and into a realm of existential threat to America and democracy. It is the talk - from Obama through his potential advisors and numerous others - to criminalize policy differnces and dissent. This is a giant step beyond mere partisan politics in a competitive democracy."

FOX News Cameraman Helps Rescue Injured Marine From Insurgent Blast in Afghanistan

This is proof that Fox News is totally biased to help the military! They are even willing to help save the lives of Marines! I can't wait to see how the non-balanced Media handle this. Will Olbermann totally freak out and call this cameraman evil?

Mr Jackson, I thank you for saving my Brother. Semper Fi!

FOXNews.com - FOX News Cameraman Helps Rescue Injured Marine From Insurgent Blast in Afghanistan - International News | News of the World | Middle East News | Europe News: "A FOX News cameraman helped save the life of an injured Marine in Afghanistan — and was injured himself — when the armored Humvee convoy he was traveling in was struck by a roadside bomb Sunday night in the Helmand province, a Taliban stronghold.

Two U.S. Marines were badly injured when the improvised explosive device detonated near their convoy. Though FOX News cameraman Chris Jackson was injured in the blast, he went back to the burning vehicle to rescue one of the Marines.

'The cabin was on fire and I jumped out,' said Jackson in a report filed immediately following the attack. 'I went, grabbed the sergeant out of the shotgun seat, pulled him out.'"

Afghanistan: The Real Enemy Stays In The Shadows

Reading this story just makes me want to carpet bomb the poppy fields and get the War for Afghanistan over with. Sure, the West might "lose" if they cut off the drug money that the Afghanis live off of, but if we then air drop in new cash crops then we can win in the long run. Buy Afghani products! Except poppys...

Afghanistan: The Real Enemy Stays In The Shadows: "The Afghan media is bribed to play up real or imagined stories of foreign troops killing Afghan civilians. Afghan troops and police kill far more civilians, but that's not news, because that's been going on forever. The important things is that the Taliban and drug gangs will pay journalists for 'foreigner kills Afghans' stories, with a bonus if the Western press picks it up (and they do grab some of the better done fabrications)."

Gaza smuggling tunnels are for milk, say Palestinians

Can even the Liberals believe this set of lies? HAHAHAHAHA! This is too Funny!

Gaza smuggling tunnels are for milk, say Palestinians: "Palestinian officials from the Gaza Strip have distributed a set of carefully-staged photographs they say are evidence that the smuggling tunnels running under the Gaza-Egypt border are for milk and other essential goods, not weapons.

The photographs show masked Palestinian militants lifting jugs of milk and sacks of baby food from the entrance to one of the tunnels on the Gaza side of the border.

Israel insists that the tunnels, of which intelligence estimates indicate there are hundreds, are used to import small arms and advanced weapons like heavy mortar shells, anti-tank missiles and anti-aircraft missiles. The tunnels are also said to be the conduit via which the Palestinians receive the material used to build their Kassam rockets.

Hamas has acknowledged Israel's position by insisting during ceasefire negotiations last month that it would not agree to halt smuggling efforts as part of the truce."

Boundless Arrogance - NYT Update II (Heh)

Wolf Howling: Boundless Arrogance - NYT Update II (Heh): "I blogged below on the Drudge Report's story about the NYT editor, David Shipley's decision not to run a McCain opinion piece that responded to Obama's 'My Plan for Iraq' editorial that the NYT published last week. I updated that with Mr. Shipley's incredibly arrogant e-mail reposnse to the McCain Camp in which he, in essence, only would agree to publish a McCain response if it was substantailly reworked to mirror Mr. Obama's call for timetables for withdraw. It was a display of arrogance and bias writ large. I thought that the matter ended there, but that is not the case. TNOY has obtained the notes of David Shipley wherein he has helpfully edited the McCain editorial to show them what he would find acceptable"

Media Donates $ to Democrats By 100-to-1 Ratio So Far This Cycle

The Jawa Report: IDB: Media Donates $ to Democrats By 100-to-1 Ratio So Far This Cycle: "What's all this rightwingnut fearmongering about a 'liberal press?' LOL

An analysis of federal records shows that the amount of money journalists contributed so far this election cycle favors Democrats by a 15:1 ratio over Republicans, with $225,563 going to Democrats, only $16,298 to Republicans .

Two-hundred thirty-five journalists donated to Democrats, just 20 gave to Republicans — a margin greater than 10-to-1. An even greater disparity, 20-to-1, exists between the number of journalists who donated to Barack Obama and John McCain.

Searches for other newsroom categories (reporters, correspondents, news editors, anchors, newspaper editors and publishers) produces 311 donors to Democrats to 30 donors to Republicans, a ratio of just over 10-to-1. In terms of money, $279,266 went to Dems, $20,709 to Republicans, a 14-to-1 ratio.

Forget that pesky MSNBC 'follow the money' expose of media political contributions that put donations from many high-profile media managers, editors, writers and broadcasters at 9 to 1 in favor of Republicans.

Just kidding! Wanted to see if you're still paying attention."

Irony: Evil Inflation Causing Ohio Women to Starve

This is just too funny! NPR and the Left Media (is there another kind? ) are worried about these poor women who can't find a job since they have never worked and could not even get through high school. Now, their welfare checks aren't keeping up with inflation and they might have to eat less. And lose a hundred pounds or so. Poor girls.

Rusty's take on it is wonderful! Enjoy!

The Jawa Report: Irony: Evil Inflation Causing Ohio Women to Starve: "Though probably not any time soon. Via NPR

A generation ago, the livelihood of Gloria Nunez's family was built on cars.

Her father worked...

And apparently he was the last to do so.

Nunez's van broke down last fall. Now, her 19-year-old daughter has no reliable transportation out of their subsidized housing complex in Fostoria, 40 miles south of Toledo, to look for a job.

I bet the van wanted to die!

Nunez, 40, has never worked and has no high school degree...

...Even if she could, she says it's particularly hard to imagine how she'll keep it. She says she needs someone to give her a lift just to get to an interview. And with gas prices so high, she's not sure she could afford to pay someone to drive her to work every day."

Second Palestinian bulldozer rampage injures 24 on Jerusalem main street

The Media kept claiming that the first terrorist to do this attack was just a lone-wolf, even though the GLB claimed it. Now they do it again, will the terrorists finally get credit for it?

The Palestinians complain about the lack of their people being allowed to work in non-Palestinian areas, but when they do get work they use the access to kill. What a great way to make it seem like they want peace.

DEBKAfile - Second Palestinian bulldozer rampage injures 24 on Jerusalem main street: "A quick-thinking passing civilian and a border guard shot the driver dead after five vehicles and a bus were rammed opposite the Liberty Bell Park on King David Street, 200 yards from King David Hotel where UK premier Brown stayed Monday. Twenty-four people were injured, one seriously. Two are children.

The bulldozer burst out of a nearby building site in Yemin Moshe.

The terrorist was Ghassen Abu Tir, 22, from Umm Tuba, a Palestinian village in southeast Jerusalem, who was employed at the building site. He was a relative of Muhammed Abu Tir, a Hamas lawmaker held in an Israeli jail.

The Hizballah-sponsored Galilee Liberation Brigades claimed this attack like the first bulldozer rampage of July 2 when another Jerusalem Palestinian killed three people and caused heavy damage on Jerusalem’s Jaffa Street."

Obama's aides furious at McCain for blabbing about Dem's Mideast trip

Poor Obama. He is such a troubled guy that everyone picks on.

Obama's aides furious at McCain for blabbing about Dem's Mideast trip: "For weeks now, Barack Obama has closely guarded the details of his planned fact-finding trips to Afghanistan and Iraq, citing security concerns.

But Friday, the Democratic presidential hopeful's Republican rival, John McCain, may have let the secret out of the bag - infuriating some Obama supporters and putting Camp McCain on the defensive.

'I believe that either today or tomorrow - and I'm not privy to his schedule - Sen. Obama will be landing in Iraq with some other senators' who make up a congressional delegation, McCain told a campaign fund-raising luncheon. 'I am sure that Sen. Obama is going to arrive in Baghdad in a much, much safer and secure environment than the one that he would've encountered before we started the surge,' McCain added.

While refusing to confirm or deny anything about Obama's schedule, his aides were furious with McCain's comment. They noted every major news outlet has resisted speculating on the timing or location of Obama's war-zone maneuvers out of safety concerns."

U.S. Troops in Iraq Face A Powerful New Weapon

The WaPo almost sounds happy that the terrorists have found a new weapon to kill with. Jerks.

Can we send these traitors over to live with their heroes?

U.S. Troops in Iraq Face A Powerful New Weapon - washingtonpost.com: "Suspected Shiite militiamen have begun using powerful rocket-propelled bombs to attack U.S. military outposts in recent months, broadening the array of weapons used against American troops.

U.S. military officials call the devices Improvised Rocket Assisted Munitions, or IRAMs. They are propane tanks packed with hundreds of pounds of explosives and powered by 107mm rockets. They are often fired by remote control from the backs of trucks, sometimes in close succession. Rocket-propelled bombs have killed at least 21 people, including at least three U.S. soldiers, this year.

The latest reported rocket-propelled bomb attack occurred Tuesday at Joint Security Station Ur, a base in northeastern Baghdad shared by U.S. and Iraqi soldiers. One U.S. soldier and an interpreter were wounded in the attack.

U.S. military officials say IRAM attacks, unlike roadside bombings and conventional mortar or rocket attacks, have the potential to kill scores of soldiers at once. IRAMs are fired at close range, unlike most rockets, and create much larger explosions. Most such attacks have occurred in the capital, Baghdad."

CDC Still Searching for Source of Salmonella

Since multiple Media/Leftist sources have called for the President to be impeached because some tomatoes might be contaminated, will they now apologize? I am not going to hold my breath! Leftists only apologize for things they have no control over, like the slavery that some people practiced a few hundred years ago. And the many millennium before. Name a ancient society that did not have some form, if you can.

Fine all the Media that get blatantly involved in politics. Just a thousand dollars for inserting biased comments into a news story. Make them return to honest reporting. The Leftist Fairness Doctrine is to silence Right-wing voices, when a fine for blatant bias would silence Leftist voices. Anyone deny this? Which Right-Wing voice in the Media would be silenced? Limbaugh? No, he is a pundit, not a news personality. Just as the pundits on Comedy Central would be safe, as long as they do not try to claim to report the news and admit that they are just commenting on the news. It is a fine line for some, but a huge step for others.

CDC Still Searching for Source of Salmonella: "... the Centers for Disease Control had the produce [tomatoes] pulled from store shelves and off menus.

But, as testing continued certain types of tomatoes passed safety tests and went back on the shelves.

However, Salmonella cases continued popping up and over the past week the CDC admitted there may be 'something else' behind the outbreak.

'Everything we have done and all of our conversations with people who have gotten ill and people who haven't gotten ill, probably 80-percent have eaten tomatoes so that's where the focus has been,' said Emily Palmer, of the Dept. of State Health Service.

The CDC hasn't said what else may be linked, but it's looking at other produce.

So far, the health department has approved grape, cherry and tomatoes on the vine ..."

AL QAEDA'S PLAN B

Wonderful to see how the terrorists are publishing the manuals to conquer the world for us! This lets us know their plans in return for the many times the Wests plans have been printed in the Media for the convenience of the terrorists. However, since the Media don't want the proles to know what the terrorists are trying, we won't see these plans published.

I have a plan on how to deal with this, but I know that the Left will cry about it since they know that they can convince the Muslims to end this Crusade against Civilization. Just as I know that the only way to stop either the terrorists or the Leftists is to beat them into submission.

Anyone want to argue a contrary position?

AL QAEDA'S PLAN B - New York Post: " NAJI makes it clear that the United States is the chief, if not the exclusive target, of jihad at this time. He mentions Israel only once, as "America's little female idol." His only reference to Palestine is in a historical context.

Naji asks jihadis to target oilfields, sea and airports, tourist facilities and especially banking and financial services. He envisages "a very long war," at the end of which the whole world is brought under the banner of Islam.

He identifies several Muslim countries as promising for establishing "the governance of the wilderness": Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Yemen, Turkey, Jordan, Libya, Tunisia and Morocco. The implication is that "wilderness" units already exist in nations such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, Somalia and Algeria.

Naji's theory is built on the concept of terror as the main organizing principle of the mini-states he hopes to set up everywhere in preparation for the coming Caliphate. He claims that the Prophet himself practiced the tactic by making his enemies in Medina, where he ran his version of the "wilderness," pay "the maximum price" for any deviance, and through constant raids on trade caravans belonging to his enemies in Mecca.

IN a simple language, Naji of fers a synthesis of the themes that appeal to different jihadi groups. With anti-imperialist sentiments, missionary dreams, ethnic and class grievances and puritanical obsessions, he mixes a deadly cocktail.

Naji's message is stark: Western civilization is doomed. Its last bastion, America, lacks the will for a long war. The "infidel" loves life and treats it as an endless feast. Jihadis have to ruin that feast and persuade the "infidel" to abandon this world in exchange for greater rewards in the next. "

A warped reaction

Ms Phillips consistently leave me cheering. I have been trying to figure out how to report on this incident myself during a busy day and she has me beat. As usual.

I will post other links after her story, just because this is too twisted.

The Spectator: "In Jerusalem today an attack claimed three lives and injured at least 45 people after an Arab in a bulldozer deliberately upended a bus and mowed down several cars in an attempt to kill as many people as he could.

But for the Guardian and the BBC, the most important fact to note was that the bulldozer driver was then shot dead. The Guardian headlined its report

Man shot dead after Jerusalem bulldozer rampage

while the BBC, whose website report is currently headlined

Deadly Jerusalem bulldozer attack

initially ran the headline

Israel bulldozer driver shot dead.

This was captured by Honest Reporting which commented:

...this example offers further evidence of the BBC's mindset - the initial instinct to portray Israel as an aggressor and a Palestinian as a victim even if that Palestinian was actively involved in a terrorist attack against innocent civilians...The BBC's very own correspondent Tim Franks even witnessed much of the incident from his office window. The BBC can have no excuse for not having the basic facts of the story in front of them from the very beginning.

True, the BBC did quickly change its headline; but even so, the warped reflex reaction is a dead giveaway. No surprise, but sickening nonetheless."

Two Interesting Trends

Is Mr Farah really going to believe an article in the NYTimes? Well...
OK, the Times has a definite bias and will only print things that make people unhappy, but they still hire a few journalists who want to find the Truth. I think.

The gist of this article is that the US is handily winning against the terrorists, but the new government in Pakistan is supporting the terrorists and the US is still calling them an ally. Can't we just do a raid and steal all their nukes? We can keep them safe until the Islamic threat has died down. Died? heh!

Go read the rest of this. It is very well thought out and reasoned.

Douglas Farah: Two Interesting Trends: "There are two stories today that point to ongoing problems and the future contours of the conflicts in which we will be emerged in coming years.

The first is the extensive New York Times piece on who lack of resources, bureaucratic infighting and lack of unified vision (coupled with a high tolerance for Pakistan’s game-playing) has helped allow al Qaeda to regroup in the tribal regions.

Perhaps the most disturbing item in the piece, which chronicles numerous disturbing elements that show how much the inter-agency process is returning to its pre-9/11 mindset the further the memories recede, is the following:

Just as it had on the day before 9/11, Al Qaeda now has a band of terrorist camps from which to plan and train for attacks against Western targets, including the United States. Officials say the new camps are smaller than the ones the group used prior to 2001. However, despite dozens of American missile strikes in Pakistan since 2002, one retired C.I.A. officer estimated that the makeshift training compounds now have as many as 2,000 local and foreign militants, up from several hundred three years ago.

Radical Islamist groups (as well as most radicalized groups) desperately need areas where they can gather to mutually reinforce their beliefs, weed out unbelievers and build a joint narrative that allows them to tell"
