Islamists attack aid agencies

The Hindu News Update Service: "Enraged Islamic militants set on fire offices of two international aid agencies working in Pakistan's North West Frontier Province today in retaliation to the military action against militants in the Lal Masjid.

Local residents said that around 100 people, some of them armed, had come down from villages in the mountains surrounding Batgram town near Mansehra and attacked the offices of 'Care International' and the 'French Red Cross' and set the big tents on fire.

The aid agencies were working in the area for the survivors of the October 2005 earthquake that killed some 75,000 people in the NWFP and Northern areas.

'They were some 100 men who first attacked the offices, and chased the people including some foreigners there. They then resorted to large-scale looting there, taking everything from eatables to electronic items. They went back to the mountains without any resistance from a couple of policemen who were standing close by,' a local journalist said.

He said the militants had come down in the afternoon backed by their supporters high up in the mountains who kept the law enforcement agencies at bay with sniper shooting."

TB patient escapes from hospital

Pine Bluff Commercial Online Edition: "A man kept in isolation after he was diagnosed with contagious tuberculosis broke a hospital window and fled from his room at a Little Rock hospital.

Franklin Greenwood, 50, was placed in isolation on June 29 after he was seen coughing up blood outside of the city's traffic court and was released by a judge to the state Health Department's custody. He left the hospital on July 1. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported Greenwood's disappearance in Wednesday's editions.

A state health official said Greenwood has a form of tuberculosis that would respond to treatment but that it is still important to find him because he is contagious.

Greenwood had been at Little Rock District Court for traffic offenses, officials said. He was taken to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hospital, where he was under a medical isolation order, according to the Health Department."

Information Warfare: Japanese Propaganda and American Mass Media

Information Warfare: Japanese Propaganda and American Mass Media: "U.S. troops have been mystified at how differently the war they fight in Iraq is portrayed by the U.S. media back home. Most just shrug it off as 'politics,' and yet another reason to not trust what the mass media presents as reliable reporting. But recently, the troops have been passing around an interesting discovery. Namely, that the Japanese psychological warfare effort during World War II included radio broadcasts that could be picked up by American troops. Popular music was played, but the commentary (by one of several English speaking Japanese women) always hammered away on the same points;

1 Your President (Franklin D Roosevelt) is lying to you.

2 This war is illegal.

3 You cannot win the war."

Facing jail, juror whose hijab hid an MP3 player | the Daily Mail

This is another example of how little respect the Muslims have for Western values. She just does not care about the laws of the country she lives in, so why not deport her back to a country that she can respect? Like Afghanistan or Saudi Arabia?

Facing jail, juror whose hijab hid an MP3 player | the Daily Mail: "A Muslim juror was thrown off a murder trial when she was caught listening to an MP3 music player under her headscarf.

Ruhela Khanom, 20, was exposed by another juror who spotted headphone wires around her neck.

At the time of the discovery, the defendant was giving evidence from the witness box.

Legal experts described the incident - which took place 13 days ago - as 'astonishing' and 'unique'.

The judge had banned reporting of the case until the conclusion of the trial at Blackfriars Crown Court in the City of London yesterday."

Enrique Iglesias sings for the Syrians

Debbie Schlussel: "There's a reason why the uncle of the current Syrian President, Rifaat El-Assad, is known as 'The Butcher of Hama.' In 1982, he murdered over 20,000 residents of and flattened the entire town of Hama, all under the sanctioning eye of the patriarch of the ruling Assad dictator family, the late Hafez El-Assad (father of current leader/President Bashar Assad).

But don't tell it to Iglesias. He and his Syrian escorts gloated over each other. He told SANA, the state-run Syrian News Agency:

I came to Syria on my personal desire.

Then, he went on a personal tour of Damascus, accompanied by his Syrian propagandist minders.

To hear this idiot dhimmi pop star, Syria is a democratic bastion of peace and understanding. And you know that he was warned otherwise. His own words say so:

Iglesias said he wasn't concerned about performing in Syria, 'although many people have told me not to.'"

Michael J. Totten: Syria Invades Lebanon

Why is this being ignored in the media and diplomatic circles? If Israel had invaded like this, the UN would have declared war on them! Why is Syria allowed to do almost anything it wants?

Michael J. Totten: Syria Invades Lebanon: "A few days ago Lebanese daily newspaper Al Mustaqbal quietly reported a limited Syrian invasion of Lebanon. (Via Naharnet.)

Syrian troops on Thursday reportedly have penetrated three kilometers into Lebanese territories, taking up positions in the mountains near Yanta in east Lebanon's Bekaa Valley.

The daily Al Mustaqbal, citing sources who confirmed the cross-border penetration, did not say when the procedure in the Fahs Hill overlooking Deir al-Ashaer in the Rashaya province took place.
The sources said Syrian troops, backed by bulldozers, were fortifying positions 'in more than one area' along the Lebanese border, erecting earth mounds and digging 'hundreds' of trenches and individual bunkers."
