Arkansas Hospital Closes Intensive Care Unit Due to Drug-Resistant Bacterial Infection - Local News | News Articles | National News | US

How do the back woods find these bugs?

FOXNews.com - Arkansas Hospital Closes Intensive Care Unit Due to Drug-Resistant Bacterial Infection - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News: "A hospital in Arkansas has isolated its entire intensive care unit and isn't admitting new patients due to the outbreak of a potentially deadly drug-resistant bacterial infection, FOXNews.com has confirmed. All ICU patients at St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs, Ark., have been isolated and forced to remain in the unit, said Dr. Vineet Chopra, director of the hospital's medicine program and the chair of the infection control committee. The multi-drug-resistant bacteria known as acinetobacter has affected six critically ill patients so far, four of them in intensive care and the other two in the general medical population, Chopra said. The six patients were infected by the organism and have been receiving intravenous antibiotics as treatment, according to Chopra. So far, he said, they're 'responding well.' It is not known how the patients were exposed to the pathogen acinetobacter."

'I know how to make you a Muslim'

Those darn Amish are conducting raids in Gaza now! I know that the members of the Religion of Peace would never commit a violent act like this.

'I know how to make you a Muslim' - Haaretz - Israel News: "Rows of plastic chairs where the grieving family receives condolences, a few dozen colorful plastic flower wreaths leaning against the wall at the entrance to the building, and a pale, clean-shaven young man in glasses, cautiously smiling from the martyr posters that cover the walls. But the usual image of Al-Aqsa mosque is missing from the picture, and the handwritten notes on the wreaths have quotations from the Bible, not the Koran. The victim belonged to Gaza's Christian community.

Rami Ayad, 31, was the manager of The Teacher's Bookshop, the only Christian bookstore in Gaza, operated by the Palestinian Bible Society. In addition to selling Bibles and Christian books, it offers computer classes and an Internet cafe. The bookstore has been attacked several times in the past two years. Internet cafes, pharmacies and music stores have been targeted as well, by what is assumed to be radical Islamic groups. Following the first attack in February 2006, a few days after the elections for the Palestinian parliament, in which Hamas won a sweeping victory, a note was found on the doorstep, demanding that the shop close immediately. The Bible Society reopened it a few weeks later.

According to Rami Ayad's widow, Pauline, her husband had not received any personal threats. But in retrospect, she realized there were signs that should have been taken seriously. Two months before the murder, a man entered the bookstore and asked Rami why he was not a Muslim.

"Because I believe in Jesus," Rami replied.

"I know how to make you become a Muslim," the man said, and left."

DEBKAfile - DEBKAfile reports: Palestinians fire 12 Qassam missiles Thursday to launch new “Gaza Offensive” and further escalate violence against their Israeli neighbors: "Palestinians fire 12 Qassam missiles Thursday to launch new “Gaza Offensive” and further escalate violence against their Israeli neighbors

November 1, 2007, 6:08 PM (GMT+02:00)

The Israeli air force went into action against the missile sites forthwith.

The Palestinian missiles were directed at Sderot, Shear Hanegev, Nir Am and Gavim, causing heavy damage but no casualties. DEBKAfile’s military sources report that all the Palestinian terrorist groups, including Fatah al Aqsa under Hamas command, are behind Thursday’s barrage and have vowed to follow up with “hundreds of missiles a day.” Their assaults were already redoubled this week against Netiv Ha’asara, the first Israeli border village to be subjected to concentrated mortar shelling.

Officers in the IDF Southern Command maintain that, whereas Israel should be liquidating Palestinian terrorist bases inside the Gaza Strip, it has let the Palestinians grab the initiative and carry their the war across the border to strike at what they call “Israeli settlements.”

Yet the Olmert government is still holding Israeli forces back from taking substantial action to root out Palestinian violence at source and break up their mushrooming war machine. (Later Thursday, Israeli forces discovered and blew up seven arms-smuggling tunnels running into southern Gaza from Sinai.)

Nothing but pinpoint operations are allowed and only brief IDF incursions no more than 1-1.5 km deep. Palestinian missile and mortar squads use this advantage to pull back as the Israel troops move in and go back to firing stations when they exit.

The word from Jerusalem is that Israel’s large-scale remedial operation in the Gaza Strip, promised by defense minister Ehud Barak, has to wait for the umpteenth time for yet another visit by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice Saturday, Nov. 3, and the ending of the international peace conference at an unknown date. In the meantime, Israeli civilians in some 40 Western Negev towns and villages must endure the punishment."

Teachers ordered to dress up as Muslims

You have to be kidding! This can't be true!

Teachers ordered to dress up as Muslims | the Daily Mail: "Teachers at a primary school have been ordered to dress up as Muslims to promote multi-culturalism. The West Midlands school is belatedly celebrating the Muslim festival of Eid and told its pupils and teachers to don traditional Muslim dress for the day. HA! I thought we sent over SEALs, not sharks.

Iraqi fisherman nets shark 160 miles from sea - Yahoo! News: "Locals blamed the U.S. military for the shark's presence. Tahseen Ali, a teacher, said there was a '75 percent chance' Americans had put the shark in the water. 'This is very frightening for us. Our children always swim in the river and I believe that there are more sharks. I believe that America is behind this matter,' said fisherman Hatim Karim."

Cleric: Women's Sexy Clothing Distracting Muslim Men From Sleep, Prayers

This is great! Take it off ladies! Drive this pig crazy!

FOXNews.com - Cleric: Women's Sexy Clothing Distracting Muslim Men From Sleep, Prayers - International News | News of the World | Middle East News | Europe News: "Malaysia's Muslim men are suffering sleepless nights and cannot pray properly because their thoughts are distracted by a growing number of women who wear sexy clothes in public, a prominent cleric said.

Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, the spiritual leader of the opposition Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party, said he wanted to speak about the "emotional abuse" that men face because it is seldom discussed, the party reported on its Web site Wednesday.

"We always [hear about] the abuse of children and wives in households, which is easily perceived by the eye, but the emotional abuse of men cannot be seen," Nik Abdul Aziz said. "Our prayers become unfocused and our sleep is often disturbed."

Nik Abdul Aziz has made controversial comments about women in the past, including that women should stop wearing lipstick and perfume to lower the risk of being raped. Women's groups have slammed his statements, saying Islam teaches both men and women to be responsible for modesty. They say comments like these encourage rapes because it puts the onus on women."

Jury Awards Father $2.9M in Funeral Case

Good! Those scum make me sick. If I was the horrible vicious Right-Wing thug that I get accused of being, I might have to harm them. Since I am a God Fearing, Right Thinking American who believes that death is not a good thing, I will have to let them be .

Jury Awards Father $2.9M in Funeral Case: "A grieving father won a $2.9 million verdict Wednesday against a fundamentalist Kansas church that pickets military funerals out of a belief that the war in Iraq is a punishment for the nation's tolerance of homosexuality. Albert Snyder of York, Pa., sued the Westboro Baptist Church for unspecified damages after members staged a demonstration at the March 2006 funeral of his son, Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder, who was killed in Iraq. Church members routinely picket funerals of military personnel killed in Iraq and Afghanistan, carrying signs such as 'Thank God for dead soldiers' and 'God hates fags.'"

Muslim children being taught to hate

Not a shock here, but I am glad that someone is trying to end this so that Muslims can join the world community.

MEMRI: Latest News: "In an investigative article in the Egyptian weekly Roz Al-Yousef, journalist Asma Nassar revealed that a popular Koran commentary for children published in Egypt contains virulent incitement against Christians and Jews, and calls on both children and adults to fight them. Nassar's critical article presents excerpts from the book and comments from Muslim scholars who participated in its writing and from senior Al-Azhar figures. The following are excerpts from the article: [1]"

Substance over image in Muslim Europe

Substance over image in Muslim Europe? Hmm. Something to think about!

MEMRI: Latest News: "In an article, Palestinian researcher Dr. Khaled Al-Hroub criticized the Muslims in Europe for not condemning terrorist attacks and thereby harming the image of the Muslims. He also argued against building giant mosques in Europe, saying that this provokes the host societies and works to the Muslims' disadvantage. The following are the excerpts from the article: [1]"

Iraqi Official: Kidnapped Sheiks Freed

Thank the Lord that these guys are free! I am also pleasantly shocked to read that the group refused to separate by religion and allow for another sectarian blood bath.Things are starting to come together! They just need more time to work things out.

Iraqi Official: Kidnapped Sheiks Freed: "A group of Sunni and Shiite sheiks seized from their cars in Baghdad have been released, said Maj. Gen. Mohammed al-Askari, a Defense Ministry spokesman. He declined to specify how many or give more details. Police and relatives have identified the tribal leaders abducted in Baghdad as seven Shiites and three Sunnis who were on their way home to Diyala province after a meeting with a government official in the capital. Police said late Sunday they had found the bullet-riddled body of one of the Sunni sheiks, Mishaan Hilan, about 50 yards away from where the ambush took place, an officer said, adding that the victim was identified after his mobile phone was found on him. The U.S. military on Monday said a rogue Shiite militia leader was responsible."

This photograph of a Kurdish baby clutched in death by her father was seen around the world in the days following the attack.

Part 1

On March 16, 1988, Iraqi planes dropped bombs filled with deadly gas on the Kurdish city of Halabja.

An estimated 5,000 people were killed on Bloody Friday. Some say they were the lucky ones.

HALABJA, Iraq - The Kurdish city of Halabja in northern Iraq may be one of the most haunted places on Earth.

If the mountains south of the city could speak, they would tell the story of March 16, 1988, the day Iraqi military planes dropped chemical bombs on the unsuspecting city. And if the earth covering the mass graves in the city's cluttered cemetery could, it would whisper the names of the 5,000 people killed that day.

Aras Abadakram lost 22 members of his family 19 years ago, including seven sisters, three brothers and his parents. He is the sole survivor of his immediate family."

Ten Sheiks Allied Against Al Qaeda Kidnapped in Iraq

I think the AQ are getting desperate. They really want to harm the coalition that the US has put together before they are completely run out of the area. I hope these sheiks are ok and that their captors die messily and soon.

FOXNews.com - Ten Sheiks Allied Against Al Qaeda Kidnapped in Iraq - International News | News of the World | Middle East News | Europe News: "Ten Sunni and Shiite tribal leaders who had joined forces against Al-Qaeda in Iraq were abducted by gunmen as they were traveling home to Diyala province after a meeting with a government official in Baghdad, police and a relative said. The gunmen ambushed the two cars carrying the 10 men in Baghdad's predominantly Shiite neighborhood of Shaab at about 3:30 p.m., police officials said. The sheiks -- seven Sunnis and three Shiites -- were on their way back to Diyala province after attending a conference with the Shiite-dominated government's adviser for tribal affairs to discuss coordinating efforts against Al-Qaeda in Iraq. They were representing a so-called Awakening Council, as the anti-Al-Qaeda groups often are known, in the Salam area, due east of Baqouba, a former Al-Qaeda stronghold. U.S. military commanders have attributed a drop in violence in the city, 60 kilometers (35 miles) northeast of Baghdad, to the increased public opposition to Al-Qaeda, as well as an influx of thousands of extra U.S. troops as part of a security crackdown."
