‘Germ warfare’ fear over African monkeys taken to Iran
‘Germ warfare’ fear over African monkeys taken to Iran - Times Online: "Hundreds of endangered monkeys are being taken from the African bush and sent to a “secretive” laboratory in Iran for scientific experiments.
An undercover inquiry by The Sunday Times has revealed that wild monkeys, which are banned from experiments in Britain, are being freely supplied in large numbers to laboratories in other parts of the world. All will undergo invasive and maybe painful experiments leading ultimately to their death.
One Tanzanian dealer, Nazir Manji, who runs African Primates, an animal-supplying company based in Dar es Salaam, said that in recent years he had been selling up to 4,000 vervet monkeys a year to laboratories, charging about £60 each.
Vervets are protected under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (Cites). Despite this they are being routinely caught and sold to any buyer prepared to pay.
...
Manji said scientists at the Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute in Iran had bought 215 vervet monkeys from him this year but he had become suspicious about their true motive, although he was still trading with them. They had “spent a lot of money” on getting the monkeys, even sending over scientists to check on each consignment.
“Iran is very secretive,” said Manji, who has been exporting monkeys for 22 years. “They said it [the monkeys] was for ‘our country’, for vaccine. [They said] ‘We don’t buy vaccine from anywhere; we prepare our own vaccine’.
“But I think they use it for something else. You know why? Because they don’t go on kilos. Iran wants [monkeys weighing] 1.5kg to 2.5kg, [but] 1.5kg for vaccine is not possible.”
Rubibira indicated that finding out what the Iranians wanted the monkeys for would be difficult. “They cannot say, you know. They are secretive. They wouldn’t tell the truth.”
The revelation will fuel speculation that the monkeys may be used for research involving biological weapons. Primates are typically used by scientists wishing to test both the effectiveness of germ warfare agents and defences against them.
The Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute, which has its headquarters in Karaj, near Tehran, has been accused in the past by an Iranian opposition group of conducting biological weapons testing. "

Operatives targeted by al-Qaida official
Of course, the poor jerks who got into this and realized they were over their heads will have to stay in or get killed by their best friends. What a life.
Operatives targeted by al-Qaida official: "Militant operatives who surrendered to Algerian authorities as part of an amnesty deal should be killed, an al-Qaida official said.
The Med Basin News Line said Friday that, according to sources, Abdul Malek Droukdel, chief of the al-Qaida Organization in the Islamic Maghreb, is concerned about information the al-Qaida operatives could give Algerian authorities.
The sources told Med Basin that Droukdel has put together a team of assassins whose mission is to kill the operatives.
Algerian authorities have detected threats to some former senior AQIM members, one of the sources said.
The amnesty deal was offered by Algerian President Abdul Aziz Bouteflika, and scores of alleged al-Qaida operatives took advantage of the temporary agreement.
The unidentified sources said Algerian officials have already received information about militant plots from some of the operatives.
Droukdel has demanded that all remaining AQIM members renew their oaths of loyalty to the organization, the sources told the news group."

Al Qaeda Plotted EU HQ Attack
The Jawa Report: Al Qaeda Plotted EU HQ Attack: "According to security sources, an al-Qaeda cell of 11 terrorists, busted last month in Morocco, was plotting to attack the European Union headquarters in Brussels, Belgium.
The information about the terrorists was allegedly gathered after the authorities interrogated Habib Bin Ali, the suspected leader of the group. It is believed that he is a young man born in 1981 in Nador, who emigrated to Belgium together with this family.
Before planning the series of attacks, he tried to go to Iraq to join other al-Qaeda fighters but he was refused entry by the authorities and for this reason he decided to return to Belgium.
Currently he is detained in the jail in Sila, near Rabat, and before he was arrested he was allegedly the point of reference for Moroccans who want to go to Iraq to fight together with al-Qaeda.
His representatives in Belgium are an Islamic Salafite group which lives in the country and includes two Moroccans and a Tunisian."

NIGERIA - RESCUE OF GIRLS IGNITES ISLAMIC RAMPAGE
Why is Islam such a violent and intolerant religion? If anyone says this, they tend to prove it! What a joke.
Compass Direct News : NIGERIA - RESCUE OF GIRLS IGNITES ISLAMIC RAMPAGE: "Six churches gutted after recovery of Christians teenagers from Muslim kidnappers.
NINGI, Nigeria, May 19 (Compass Direct News) – Islamists under the auspices of a paramilitary force last week destroyed six churches to protest a police rescue of two teenage Christian girls kidnapped by Muslims in this Bauchi state town. Police recovered the two Christian girls, Mary Chikwodi Okoye, 15, and Uche Edward, 14, on May 12 after Muslims in Ningi kidnapped them three weeks ago in an attempt to expand Islam by marrying them to Muslim men. Police took the two girls, who had been under foster care, to safety in southeastern Nigeria where their biological parents live. The kidnappers had taken the girls to Wudil town in Kano state. Following the rescue of the girls, Muslims under the Hisbah Command, a paramilitary arm of Kano state’s Sharia Commission, went on a rampage on Tuesday (May 13), attacking Christians and setting fire to the churches. Joseph Abdu, pastor of the Deeper Life church, told Compass that damages to his church property amounted to about 13 million naira (US$112,857) – and that his congregation had shrunk to 40 people from the 130 who attended before the attack. Muslims have kidnapped at least 13 Christian girls in the town, Christian sources said."

Trident shadowing boat-load of bombs
Trident shadowing boat-load of bombs: "A floating arsenal of weapons and bombs dispatched by China in a rust-stained tramp freighter to the pariah state of President Robert Mugabe's Zimbabwe now is being shadowed by Britain's most powerful submarine, a nuclear Trident, says a report in Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.
Freighter officers are desperate to be allowed to unload their cargo of 1,500 rocket-propelled grenades, 2,500 mortar rounds and three million rounds of ammunition for Mugabe's army, intended to be used to further cow the country's starving population.
But it has been turned away by dockers in the South African port who branded it 'a ship of shame,' as well as ports in Angola and Mozambique."

Pig farms bloom in Muslim Morocco thanks to tourism
Pig farms bloom in Muslim Morocco thanks to tourism - Yahoo!Xtra News: "Shunned by most Muslim countries where pork consumption is a religious taboo, pig farming is blooming in Morocco thanks to a growing tourist industry and pragmatic breeders like 39-year-old Said Samouk.
'If there's tourism, it would be better to have pigs,' said Samouk, who raises 250 pigs at his farm 28 kilometres (17 miles) from the seaside town of Agadir.
After being battered by a wave of bird flu, the Moroccan farmer launched a pig operation 20 years ago in partnership with an elderly French man.
Today, Samouk spins dreams of doubling his production within three years to help meet the demands of some 10 million tourists expected to visit Morocco in 2010 -- up from 7.5 million who flocked to the north African country in 2007.
'I'm a practising Muslim. I don't eat pork and I don't drink alcohol but it's just a breeding operation like any other and no Imam has ever reprimanded me for it,' he said of raising pigs -- whose consumption is prohibited in both Islam and Judaism."

Attack in Villages on Chad’s Border With Sudan Kills 400
Attack in Villages on Chad’s Border With Sudan Kills 400, Report Says - New York Times: "The United Nations refugee agency said Tuesday that militiamen had killed up to 400 people in the volatile eastern border region near Sudan, leaving an “apocalyptic” scene of mass graves and destruction.
The attacks, by militiamen known as the janjaweed, took place March 31 in the border villages of Tiero and Marena, some 550 miles from this capital. Chadian officials initially said 65 people had died, but added that the toll was sure to rise.
“Estimates of the number of dead have increased substantially, and now range between 200 and 400,” a report by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees said. The report added that many of the dead were buried in common graves. “We may never know their exact number,” it said.
The attackers encircled the villages and opened fire, pursuing fleeing villagers, robbing women and shooting the men, the agency said. Many who survived the attack died from exhaustion and dehydration."

A Non-Credible Threat
Why two? I foresee the Russians and Chinese working with the forces of tyranny around the globe trying to have an anti-democratic group who will fight to destroy the democracies. In form, this will basically just be the UN now, but without the democratic governments who will have formed a self defense group based loosely upon a US-Australian axis. Who else will be involved? Many of the same countries found in the current Coalition of the Willing who are supporting US Central Command. You can look at their website for a current list. After this break, there will be a Colder War, portions of which are already seen in places like the Sudan where the global tyrants are not allowing the UN the teeth to stop the genocide of the blacks. (Good thing that Je$$ie Jack$on is not involved yet, that might scare the nice Peaceful Muslims into ending the slaughter despite the continued "threats" of the UN.)
I pray to G-d that I am wrong about this. The slaughter will be horrendous. And that is just in North America! Africa and South Asia will see millions of dead. Pity.
A Non-Credible Threat: "In game theory economics a 'non-credible threat' is a term used to describe a threat by a player in a sequential game that will not be carried out but is nonetheless made in the hope that it will be believed and, therefore, that the threatened undesirable action will not need to be carried out.
The United Nations has spent four years making non-credible threats against Sudan. Unfortunately for the U.N.--and most especially for the people of Darfur--the Sudanese government has taken none of these threats seriously.
This reality is not lost on United Nations Deputy Secretary General Mark Malloch Brown. Speaking candidly at a recent Brookings Institute event, Brown admitted that in Darfur: '...there is a little bit of bluff playing, in that we're saying to President Bashir of Sudan, give us consent for deployment or else. And there's a lot of questions about what plausibly the 'or else' is. And President Bashir looks at us and he thinks he's seen us blink, and that makes it hugely difficult to credibly address this issue of winning his consent to our deployment.'"

Disappearance of 100 bars of uranium
The UN nuclear watchdog and Kinshasa government investigate disappearance of 100 bars of uranium believed smuggled to Iran
March 14, 2007, 12:18 PM (GMT+02:00)
The DR Congo newspaper Le Phare reported the uranium was removed from the nuclear center in Kinshasa as “part of a vast trafficking operation.”
The DR Congo’s commissioner for atomic energy Prof. Fortunat Lumu and an associate have been arrested for allegedly belonging to an international network set up to mine and export uranium illegally in recent years. Tehran is suspected of being behind the affair.
Congo minister of scientific research Sylvanus Mushi said Lumu and his colleague had illegally negotiated partnership deals with foreign companies without government authorization. He said network members had come from Europe, South Africa and the Seychelles.
Congo’s Shinkolobwe mine provided high-quality uranium for the Manhattan Project in World War Two. Belgium sealed the mine by filling it with concrete when Congo gained independence in 1960.

Islamic moderates attack Christians
MOGADISHU, Somalia - Ethiopia launched an attack Sunday on Somalia’s powerful Islamic movement, sending fighter jets across the border and bombarding several towns in a major escalation of the violence that threatens to engulf the Horn of Africa.
Ethiopia confirmed the attacks, the first time it has acknowledged that its troops were fighting in Somalia, though witnesses have reported their presence for weeks.
“After too much patience, the Ethiopian government has taken a self-defensive measure and has begun counterattacking the aggressive extremist forces of the (Islamic council) and foreign terrorist groups,” said Ethiopia’s foreign affairs spokesman, Solomon Abebe.
The Council of Islamic Courts has vowed to drive out troops from neighboring Ethiopia, a largely Christian nation that is providing military support to Somalia’s U.N.-backed government.
“They are cowards,” said Sheik Mohamoud Ibrahim Suley, an official with Somalia’s Council of Islamic Courts. “They are afraid of the face-to-face war and resorted to airstrikes. I hope God will help us shoot down their planes.”
I read this and could not decide whether to laugh or get angry. On the one hand I want the Somali clerics to be sent to Allah because they anger me. On the other hand I have to laugh at the phrase "U.N.-backed government :))
Being backed by the UN is such a waste. It almost guarantees you failure. When was the last time the UN got involved and won? Was it on terrorism? Was it in Bosnia? Kosovo? Haiti?
How long will the UN let Christians die before they move. I am willing to bet the answer is "a few years." Would anyone like to bet?
