2 Dead, Hospital on Lock Down After Hazmat Exposure

Where did these people get exposed to such a dangerous chemical? I want more information!

FOXNews.com - 2 Dead, Hospital on Lock Down After Hazmat Exposure - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News: "Two people are dead after nearly half a dozen were exposed to the highly toxic and dangerous chemical nitroaniline, MyFOXSTL.com reported.

Emergency rooms at two St. Louis-area hospitals were closed Saturday afternoon after several people entered the facilities saying they were exposed to a white powdery substance.

St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis was reopened Saturday night, while DePaul Health Center in Bridgeton was expected to be closed to several more hours.

Investigators believe those hospitalized are employees of an East St. Louis business who were mixing chemicals, and then put them into a dumpster, MyFOXSTL.com reported.

Victims reportedly showed up at the hospitals with blue skin, prompting the hospital lock down, the station reported.

About 20 who were exposed to those three patients are also under quarantine."

Sister: Man found dead at Burnsley Hotel 'not a terrorist'

He is a member of the Religion of Peace and would never harm anyone. He was just trying to commit suicide. Honest. With a full pound of cyanide. He is a peaceful man. His family is normal and peaceful.

Those insane authorities are making a big deal about nothing. Lots of people, especially Peaceful Muslims, like to travel with massive amounts of poisons or explosives. Anyone who thinks this is dangerous is a racist and Islamophobe.

Too much sarcasm?

Go to: http://www.brooksidepress.org/Products/OperationalMedicine/DATA/operationalmed/Manuals/RedHandbook/005Cyanide.htm

Sister: Man found dead at Burnsley Hotel 'not a terrorist' : Local News : The Rocky Mountain News: "The Canadian man found dead next to a jar of cyanide in a Denver hotel room had schizophrenia, his family says, lending credence to the theory that he may have died of suicide.

The FBI and haz-mat teams got involved in the incident because cyanide can be used to make chemical weapons, and the foreign national had arrived in Denver shortly before the start of the Democratic National Convention.

Saleman Abdirahman Dirie's body was found on Monday in his room on the fourth floor of the Burnsley Hotel at 1000 Grant St.

'He was not a terrorist,' Dirie's sister told CanWest News Service on Wednesday from the family home in Ottawa. 'We don't want to hear that word. It is against our religion.'

...
Sodium chloride is an ideal ingredient for making a chemical weapon but also is found in rat poison and such things as gold-plated watches.

The tell-tale odor of almonds indicated to investigators that Dirie may have died from exposure to cyanide.

Investigators still want to know why so much of it — about a pound in crystal form — was found in the room.

Meanwhile, the Denver medical examiner is awaiting results of lab tests before announcing an official cause of death."

Man Dead, Large Amount Of Possible Cyanide Found

Scary stuff! How much crud was this guy carrying and what was he planning on doing with it? SO many questions!

How did he get this over the border? If he didn't bring it over the border then where did he get it? Border security needs to be tightened up North since the dangerous people seem to be traveling over that border since the Southern border is getting so much scrutiny. Not enough, but it does tend to get more of a look than Canada.

Of course, the people who were threatened by this were the ones who insist that the security is too tight. And they are willing to die for their Right to no security. Someone should let who ever was behind this finish the job, just to make the Dems happy.

cbs4denver.com - Man Dead, Large Amount Of Possible Cyanide Found: " It has the makings of international intrigue. Less than two weeks before the Democratic National Convention a man has been found dead in a Denver hotel room with a container of what authorities initially suspect to be the deadly poison cyanide.

Adding to the intrigue is that the dead man, Saleman Abdirahman Dirie, 29, appears to be from outside the U.S. No passport was found on Dirie, who is believed to have entered the country from Canada.

A large container of a white powdery substance was found in the man's room on the fourth floor of The Burnsley hotel at 10th and Grant.

Tests are now being done by the Denver Police Crime Lab to determine exactly what the substance is. The tests could take days.

It's believed Dirie died from something other than the substance that was in the container.

Denver police are leading the investigation of the man's death. The FBI and other governmental agencies, including the Joint Terrorism Task Force, are assisting in the probe. Hazardous materials assistance has included the Colorado State Patrol and the Colorado National Guard.

"Our Joint Terrorism Task Force is involved in this simply because the victim here is from another country and it just kind of makes sense that our terrorism guys would take a look a look at this," FBI Special Agent in Charge James Davis said.

Davis told CBS 4 that nothing so far has been found to link the case to terrorism or the coming convention.

Authorities said The Burnsley hotel is safe and is open for business.

Cyanide can be made from plants in very small amounts. It can be a gas, liquid or powder. It prevents the body from using oxygen and therefore is more harmful to the heart and brain than other organs.

"It was used in concentration camps in World War II and by Saddam Hussein against the Kurds in the 1990s," CBD4 Medical Editor Dr. Dave Hnida said. "And put it in a little capsule, it is in fact used as a suicide pill just like you see in the movies."

Officials said cyanide can be used as a terrorist weapon if it is dumped in water put in food, sprayed as a gas, or many other methods.

U.S. official: Iraqis told me WMDs sent to Syria

Well, more proof yet that the US covered up the existence of the Iraqi WMD.
Why the cover up?
Why not just find the weapons and destroy them? Even if it means we have to invade another hostile country?

The world is not safer with anyone having these kinds of weapons. Especially unstable countries.

U.S. official: Iraqis told me WMDs sent to Syria: "A former American overseer of Iraqi prisons says several dozen inmates who were members of Saddam Hussein's military and intelligence forces boasted of helping transport weapons of mass destruction to Syria and Lebanon in the three months prior to Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Don Bordenkircher – who served two years as national director of prison and jail operations in Iraq– told WND that about 40 prisoners he spoke with 'boasted of being involved in the transport of WMD warheads to Syria.'

A smaller number of prisoners, he said, claimed 'they knew the locations of the missile hulls buried in Iraq.'

Some of the inmates, Bordenkircher said, 'wanted to trade their information for a release from prison and were amenable to showing the locations.'

The prisoners were members of the Iraqi military or civilians assigned to the Iraqi military, often stationed at munitions facilities, according to Bordenkircher. He said he was told the WMDs were shipped by truck into Syria, and some ended up in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley."

Mustard Gas Leak Confirmed in Kentucky

Things happen. Even in the best situations, things still go wrong. At least this is only a trace leak and not something serious! I will be happy when the last of these antiques are destroyed and no longer a threat to the locals who are guarding them.

FOXNews.com - Mustard Gas Leak Confirmed in Kentucky - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News: "Richard Sloan, public affairs officer for the chemical storage site at Blue Grass Army Depot in Richmond, said trace amounts of mustard gas vapor were detected during a routine inspection of a storage area this week. Army workers won't know whether there is also a liquid leak until a closer inspection inside the igloo.

Because the igloo is full of artillery weapons containing mustard agent, the biggest chore in cleanup efforts is to pinpoint which one is leaking, he said.

'If they could walk in there and find a puddle, that would be wonderful, but that's probably not going to happen,' Sloan said. 'What they're probably going to do is find several thousand projectiles and no way of telling which one of those had let a little vapor through.'

Another concern is the summer heat, which could raise the temperature inside the opened igloo and heighten the chances of additional leaks. Once the leak or leaks are identified, the 155-millimeter projectiles that are affected will be stored in packed containers to limit the risk of future leakage."

Community frets over loss of chem weapons jobs

Not sure how to feel about this. I am happy! But the loss of the jobs is kind of sad, too. I wonder if a chemical company can buy the property and hire a large number of people.

Community frets over loss of chem weapons jobs « BGG: "Who’s sorry to say goodbye to a thousand tons of old slime? The people who make their livings by babysitting it, of course. But all good things come to an end, like the extremely hot villain in Hellboy II. Damn it all. Er…but I digress.

By the end of this month, the last of 1,269 tons of VX will be eliminated, and dismantling of the Newport Chemical Depot will begin. About 130 jobs will be gone permanently by September, according to the Kentucky-based operating contractor Mason & Hanger. After that, depending on the time it takes to dismantle the facility, jobs will be lost in waves. The total closure process could take until 2012, according to officials.

Since the Depot opened in 1941, it has been the largest employer in Vermillion County, employing about 1,000 workers in recent years.

…“We’ve always looked at that facility as about a thousand jobs.”"

Iraq War Media Deceptions 101

SBVOR: Iraq War Media Deceptions 101: "1) Iraq had WMD stockpiles and the United Nations knew it!

If Saddam had no stockpiles of WMD, how do you explain 17 UN Security Council Resolutions over a period of 12 years, 14 of which deal directly with WMD?

Pay special attention to UNSCR 1441, which essentially said to Saddam (paraphrasing):

“Better hide the WMD, The United States will be invading 30 days from today”

But, that notice was given on 11/8/02 and we did not invade until 3/20/03. No wonder we have not found most of the WMD which the United Nations KNEW was there!

Even so, ISG, post war, REPORTED they found limited quantities of WMD. ISG also found clear evidence of intent to produce more WMD, including thermonuclear weapons. They failed to find clear evidence of large quantities of recently manufactured WMD. But, they were also:

“unable to rule out the possibility that WMD was evacuated to Syria before the war.”

Various other sources offer evidence that the WMD was evacuated to Syria.

Given fighter jets were buried in the desert, there clearly exists the possibility that WMD was buried in the desert."

Mediterranean union wants to rid Mideast of WMDs

This 'union' sounds predestined to fail. But it is a nice idea.

Mediterranean union wants to rid Mideast of WMDs: "Forty-three nations, including Israel and Arab states, pledged Sunday to work for a Middle East free of weapons of mass destruction at the close of a summit to launch an unprecedented Union for the Mediterranean aimed at securing peace across the restive region.

In a final declaration, Israel, Syria, the Palestinians along with countries across Europe, the Middle East and North Africa agreed to 'pursue a mutually and effectively verifiable Middle East Zone free of weapons of mass destruction.'

The countries committed to 'consider practical steps to prevent the proliferation' of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons and their delivery systems. It was unclear, however, how the signatories—who included Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Syrian President Bashar Assad—would enforce the pledge.

Israel is widely believed to have a stockpile of nuclear weapons but neither confirms nor denies it has them—an ambiguity meant to scare potential enemies from considering an annihilating attack while denying them the rationale for developing their own nuclear deterrent."

Analysis: Will terrorists go nuclear?

Of course the terrorists want something with a big boom! They love to demonstrate power. The ones who want bioweapons do not want power, they want deaths. They want to destroy life on this planet. They are pure evil.

This article is simple enough for even a Liberal to understand. I think. I have trouble reading down to that level, so it might be too advanced still. You might want to forward it to your Liberal friends so that they can understand what the Experts fear.

Analysis: Will terrorists go nuclear? - UPI.com: "One recurring question that has been at the forefront of most intelligence agencies since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks by al-Qaida on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon just 1 mile outside Washington concerns the ongoing efforts by terrorist groups to acquire weapons of mass destruction: chemical, biological and mostly nuclear.

Each of the NBC (nuclear, biological, chemical) weapons comes with a certain advantage and disadvantage -- for the terrorist, that is."

FBI Warns: New al-Qaida WMD Threat

Another day, another threat. Is it terrorists desperate to seem relevant or Bush trying to scare people?

I know which I think!

Newsmax.com - FBI Warns: New al-Qaida WMD Threat: "The FBI issued a bulletin to 18,000 law enforcement agencies this week warning that al-Qaida has made new threats to use weapons of mass destruction against U.S. targets.

ABC News reported late Tuesday that intelligence sources have confirmed that al-Qaida plans to release a new video on the web sometime tomorrow. U.S. intelligence believes the terror group will advise its 'jihadists to use biological, chemical and nuclear weapons to attack the West.'

An FBI spokesman confirmed the threat 'calling for the use of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) against civilians.' The U.S. has no 'intelligence of any specific plot or indication of a threat to the U.S.,' the Bureau spokesman said. Still, the FBI has taken the precautionary step of alerting other agencies of the potential threat.

Such threats are not unusual for the Bureau. Earlier this year, Dr. Vahid Majidi, the bureau’s assistant director in charge of the WMD Directorate, told Newsmax that the FBI gets at least several dozen cases a year involving weapons of mass destruction. [My emphasis]

The Bureau takes such threats seriously."

Analysis: Iran's secret Syrian plan

Good to know that the Syrian and Iranian chemical weapons programs are still being monitored. Not that anyone will admit it.

Analysis: Iran's secret Syrian plan - Middle East Times: "But there might be another explanation. Kuwait's Al Seyassah newspaper recently reported that a Shiite Lebanese religious cleric claimed the Iranians were allegedly supervising a chemical weapons manufacturing program and that tens of Iranian experts and engineers died as a result of that explosion. He also said Israelis attacked the base. He added that Western officials told him they received proof from Israel on the Syrian chemical weapons program. Even if Israel's involvement is not proven, what remains sure is that it must be very happy that a chemical weapons facility in Syria has been partly destroyed.

Now regarding the September 6 strike; while we may never know what really occurred, what remains sure is that the situation is direr than one could imagine and that most likely, Israel did not just bomb a nuclear site in the early stages. Indeed, the silence of the international community and especially the Arab world after the attack is a first, and it shows the gravity of what happened. Even though Syria and its Iranian sponsor are detested, and in the case of Iran feared, in the Muslim world, the fact that there was no condemnation of Israel at the U.N. could be interpreted as a tacit relief that Israel acted."

Death Upheld for Japanese Cult Member

The Japanese system is really slow on this! Of course, the US system is not much better, unfortunately. I am just glad that these murderers are finally going to die. They deserve it for the horrible attacks they undertook. Nerve gas is not a nice way to die.

Death Upheld for Japanese Cult Member | World Latest | Guardian Unlimited: "The Tokyo High Court on Thursday upheld the death sentence given to a former cult member for his role in the 1995 nerve gas attack on the city's subway system.

Tokyo District Court convicted Seiichi Endo in October 2002 of helping to produce the sarin gas that killed 12 people and sickened 5,000. He is a virology graduate of Japan's prestigious Kyoto University.

Endo, 46, is one of more than a dozen former members of the Aum Shinrikyo cult facing the death penalty in connection with the subway attack. They include the cult's former guru, Shoko Asahara.

A court spokesman confirmed the ruling but declined to elaborate."

2 Teens Charged With Pouring Acidic Drain Cleaner on Playground That Burned Boy

This is sick. This is also an update to the story I posted this weekend. I want to know more about these sick teens who think hurting little kids is funny. Pour the drain cleaner on the floor of their cell and let them stand in it until they are too tired to stand anymore. They can picture the poor kids burns while they grown their own on their feet and butts. What is the world coming too? What happened to morals?

FOXNews.com - 2 Teens Charged With Pouring Acidic Drain Cleaner on Playground That Burned Boy - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News: "Two teenagers were charged with breaking into a school and pouring an acidic drain cleaner on playground equipment that later burned a 2-year-old boy on a slide, Baltimore County police said Tuesday.

The two 16-year-old boys were charged Monday night with reckless endangerment and second-degree burglary and released to their parents, officials said.

A school resource officer learned about the first juvenile, which police said led them to the second, who was arrested later. Their names were not released.

The industrial strength drain cleaner, which has a high concentration of sulfuric acid, was removed from a storage facility at Victory Villa Elementary School and splashed over the school's playground equipment, police said.

The 2-year-old, Peyton Potochney, suffered second- and third-degree burns, mostly on his legs, after he went down a slide. His mother, Carol Duschl, has said the little boy likely will be hospitalized for several weeks."

Acid Attacks at Playgrounds in Texas and Maryland

I have been very sick this weekend, or I would have caught this myself. I hope.

This is a sick act. Who would purposely target children this way? I know it is something that jihadis do for kicks, but are jihadis working in North America?

ACS revokes membership of Iranians

It might only be temporary, but it is also about time! These people are helping their government to build terror weapons. Disgusting stuff. I wonder how many other international organizations are keeping these Iranians on their lists?

The MEMRI Blog: "The Iranian news agency ISNA reported on April 4, 2007 that the American Chemical Society has revoked the membership of 36 Iranian scientists after it determined that having members in Iran violates U.S. law.

The society expressed the hope that after the legal obstacles of this issue have been removed it will reinstate the memberships.

Also, the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE) has stopped sending requested magazines to Iranian engineers because it claims that doing so would be against U.S.

Homicide Bomber With Truck Full of TNT, Chlorine Gas Kills 27 in Iraq - International News | News of the World | Middle East News | Euro

Just more of this. Sad really. Al Qaeda is really getting desparte to kill Muslims.

FOXNews.com - Homicide Bomber With Truck Full of TNT, Chlorine Gas Kills 27 in Iraq - International News | News of the World | Middle East News | Europe News: "A homicide bomber driving a truck loaded with TNT and toxic chlorine gas crashed into a police checkpoint in western Ramadi on Friday, killing at least 27 people and wounding dozens, police in the Anbar provincial capital said.

The bombing in Anbar province marked the ninth use of chlorine bombs in the sprawling, mainly desert territory that has been a stronghold of the Sunni insurgency.

Recently, however, many Anbar tribes have switched allegiance, with large numbers of military-age men joining the police force and Iraqi army in a bid to expel al-Qaida in Iraq fighters. Suicide bombings are an Al Qaeda trademark.

Police Maj. Mohammed Mahmoud al Nattah, member of the Anbar Salvation council, told state-run Iraqiya television the bomber hit a residential complex and dozens of wounded were taken to the Ramadi hospital.

Police opened fire as the homicide car bomber sped toward a checkpoint, three miles west of the city, according to police Col. Tariq al-Dulaimi. Nearby buildings were heavily damaged and police were searching the rubble for more victims."

Counterterrorism Blog: The Chlorine Gas Attacks in Iraq and the Specter of Suicide Attacks with CBRN Weapons

It might be very scary if suddenly the jihad in America started using into the transportation industry here and all the chemical trucks on the road suddenly became possible bombs. How many of these trucks do you see on the roads everyday? They are all over! Scary thought. Boom. Wake up America!

Terrorists use WMD in attack

I guess there are no WMDs in Iraq. Stupid people are ignoreing this. Thanks to Americas North Shore Journal for this link.

AR RAMADI, Iraq – Emergency Response Unit personnel, Iraqi Police, and civilians northwest of Ramadi were attacked by a suicide vehicle-born improvised explosive device (SVBIED) early Sunday [Jan 28, 2007]. Coalition forces responded to the attack to provide immediate medical assistance and evacuate the wounded to medical facilities.

Along with the suicide bomber, 16 people were killed by the attack.

The SVBIED was a dump truck filled with explosives and included a chlorine tank. The truck crashed into the Emergency Response Unit compound and detonated. There are no indications of any casualties caused by the release of chlorine gas.

The Al Jazeera Police and U.S. Soldiers from the 2nd Battalion, 37th Infantry Brigade responded to the scene and worked together to evacuate the casualties. The majority of the casualties were evacuated to the U.S. medical facility at Camp Ramadi. Some victims of the attack were evacuated to Coalition medical facilities in Balad and Baghdad.

Emergency Response Units serve as a quick reaction force to augment and support the police in Anbar province. They are made up of Iraqi citizens and are led by the commander of the Iraqi Police in Anbar.
