Israel-Hamas truce begins amid clashes

Kill them before the truce kicks in and they are off limits while they plot for a huge offensive. Just as Mohammad did:

Muhammad was the first to violate the Treaty of Hudaibiya. Even the Qur’an acknowledges this, which means any knowledgeable Muslim must as well.

The terms of the treaty specified that any Muslim who flees Mecca for Medina (where Muhammad resided) must be returned. But when a group of Muslims did exactly that a few weeks after the treaty signing, Muhammad did not return all of them, but kept the women. A verse from Allah arrived conveniently to justify his decision (60:10).

Today’s Muslims have only one answer for this: Allah gave Muhammad His personal permission to break the treaty. It is an obvious double standard, but one that they are comfortable with, since Muslims believe their religion makes them superior. (It remains unclear as to why Allah had Muhammad sign on to terms that were intended to be violated).

AKI - Adnkronos international Middle East: Israel-Hamas truce begins amid clashes: "Israeli armed forces clashed against Palestinian militants hours before Israel and the Islamist movement Hamas began a truce on Thursday.

Six Palestinian militants belonging to the armed wing of Islamic Jihad, the al-Quds Brigades were injured in a series of airstrikes by Israeli forces before the ceasefire came into effect on Thursday, reported Palestinian news agency Maan.

Islamic Jihad militants said they shelled an Israeli kibbutz in response, while a Qassam rocket landed on a house in the town of Sderot in southern Israel causing minor damage.

Under the ceasefire agreement, Gaza's blockade will be eased to allow basic supplies into the Strip and talks are expected to intensify regarding the release of Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit, kidnapped in 2006.

The truce, or 'tahadiyeh' is expected to last for six months and calls for a halt to all military offensive operations by Israel and a pledge by the Islamist movement Hamas to stop attacks against Israel by Palestinian militants."

Defending freedom to abuse

I wonder if we can move the freaks in NAMBLA in to Afghanistan? Sounds like they would love it! Plus, it would get them away from OUR kids! Just don't let them return...

Sick freaks...

Defending freedom to abuse: "Man-boy homosexuality has flourished anew in the aftermath of Taliban zero-tolerance laws, albeit a selectively punished offence in that era. Warlords again parade cities with teenage boys known as an 'ashna' by their side.

The strict social separation and severe consequences for premarital sex with women have given rise to the cultural wrinkle of men used for sexual recreation and women reserved for reproduction.

But that hardly makes it right when Afghan boys are police rape victims.

And it's a wrong that Canadian soldiers should be encouraged to report so that Afghan officers being trained in law enforcement can be pressured to stop it themselves."

Operatives targeted by al-Qaida official

Eating their own. What a lovely sight to behold!

Of course, the poor jerks who got into this and realized they were over their heads will have to stay in or get killed by their best friends. What a life.

Operatives targeted by al-Qaida official: "Militant operatives who surrendered to Algerian authorities as part of an amnesty deal should be killed, an al-Qaida official said.

The Med Basin News Line said Friday that, according to sources, Abdul Malek Droukdel, chief of the al-Qaida Organization in the Islamic Maghreb, is concerned about information the al-Qaida operatives could give Algerian authorities.

The sources told Med Basin that Droukdel has put together a team of assassins whose mission is to kill the operatives.

Algerian authorities have detected threats to some former senior AQIM members, one of the sources said.

The amnesty deal was offered by Algerian President Abdul Aziz Bouteflika, and scores of alleged al-Qaida operatives took advantage of the temporary agreement.

The unidentified sources said Algerian officials have already received information about militant plots from some of the operatives.

Droukdel has demanded that all remaining AQIM members renew their oaths of loyalty to the organization, the sources told the news group."

Iraq: War Shifting To Afghanistan

When the terrorists are fleeing, it allows a few personal grudges to be explored. Which is happening in Iraq. I just wish that the Left and Media could notice good news like this. It is such a waste of time to read the newspaper.

Iraq: War Shifting To Afghanistan: "In Iraq, al Qaeda has been reduced to one collection of cells in the north, around the city of Mosul. Here, some of the al Qaeda leaders are carrying out a revenge campaign, and have killed three Sunni Arab tribal leaders who used to support the terrorists, but now support the government. As usual, this has had an impact quite the opposite of what al Qaeda was hoping for. The Sunni Arab tribes are becoming more energetic, and brutal, in hunting down the terrorists, and the tribesmen who still support them. This is turning into a war of extermination, which encourages many of the al Qaeda operatives to head for Pakistan, where al Qaeda has established a base for a last stand. But some of the Iraqi terrorists cannot, or will not, go. So they will die, and try to kill a lot of Iraqis in the process.

The government has successfully used an ancient tactic for winning sectarian wars. That is, Kurdish and Shia police and army units were used against Sunni areas, while the recent Battle of Basra was spearheaded by the 1st Infantry Division, which is largely recruited from Sunni Arab western Iraq (Anbar province). Not only were the Sunnis happy to kill Shia, but the Shia militias had a historical fear of armed Sunnis that did not do much for their morale. Once the militia units were broken, Shia Arab police units came in to make peace and settle things down. The Shia militia units belonging to the Mahdi Army are being destroyed this way."

Afghan, NATO Troops Clear Kandahar Villages of Taliban

When the Taliban took those remote villages, the Left and Media ate it up! I wonder if this will receive half the coverage as the original story?

Good job, lads!

FOXNews.com - Afghan, NATO Troops Clear Kandahar Villages of Taliban - International News | News of the World | Middle East News | Europe News: "A swift offensive by Afghan and NATO forces has driven Taliban militants from a strategic group of villages outside southern Afghanistan's largest city and killed 56 insurgents, Afghan officials said Thursday.

Gen. Mohammad Zahir Azimi, spokesman for the Defense Ministry, said the Afghan National Army was now in control of the villages, but that the militants had planted hundreds of land mines in the area before fleeing.

NATO officials have not confirmed that Arghandab was militant-free, or Azimi's report that 56 militants were killed. But NATO spokesman Mark Laity did say the alliance launched a 'limited number of successful airstrikes' overnight.

'We don't have a definitive assessment, though casualties were inflicted,' Laity said. 'The main point is that it has helped ensure the continuing success of the mission.'"

U.N.'s Arbour opposes taboos in human rights body

Just talking about sharia is now being banned by the UN? As much as I hate to agree with a UN type, well, a modern one, Ms Arbour is correct that the UN is supposed to protect freedoms, not caving in to barbarians from the Middle Ages.

U.N.'s Arbour opposes taboos in human rights body | International | Reuters
"Arbour, who steps down this month after 4 years the post, did not refer specifically to the incident in the Council on Monday when Egypt, backed by Pakistan and Iran, said referring to sharia there meant "crucifying" Islamic states."

But she pointed to treatment of homosexuals in many countries -- prosecuted as criminals in a number of Islamic and some other states -- as "fundamental" to debate on sexual discrimination around the world.

"It is difficult for me to accept that a Council that is the guardian of legality, prevents the presentation of serious analysis or discussion on questions of the evolution of the concept of non-discrimination," Arbour declared.

Monday's row centered on a scheduled 3-minute speech on behalf of two non-governmental organizations (NGOs), the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU) and the Association for World Education (AWE), calling on Muslim countries to take firm action against "honor killings" and female genital mutilation.

INTERRUPTED

The NGOs' speaker was repeatedly interrupted by Egypt, whose delegate, as seen on a U.N. webcast, accused him of trying to link these practices with Islam, and said discussion of sharia in the Council "will not happen" -- although the European Union and Canada argued that the address should go ahead.

Islam, the Egyptian delegate declared, "will not be crucified in this Council"."

Muslim arrested at airport with handgun in carry-on luggage

What a moron. I wish these Muslims would stop trying to create mass murder.

Jihad Watch: Canada: Muslim arrested at airport with handgun in carry-on luggage: "'Gun, ammunition confiscated from air passenger,' from CBC News, June 17 (thanks to APA):

A man was arrested at the Calgary International Airport Tuesday after a handgun was detected in his carry-on luggage.

Security officers in a pre-boarding screening area at concourse D noticed the gun inside the luggage and alerted police just after noon Tuesday.

Police arrested the man without incident and seized an unloaded, small calibre handgun and several rounds of ammunition from the bag, said Calgary police. They believe the man was flying to Saskatoon.

Ziad Mohamad Jeha, 30, of Calgary, has been charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, possession of a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon without a permit and possession of a restricted weapon with readily accessible ammunition.

Calgary police said the suspect is known to them."

The Foreign Policy of Pooh

I am not sure whether to laugh or cry. I thought that Mr Danzig was safely in the dustbin of history. Where is Obama dredging up this load of forgotten morons from?

The Foreign Policy of Pooh: "What was that word from 2000 again? Oh yes...gravitas.

Richard Danzig, who served as Navy Secretary under President Clinton and is tipped to become National Security Adviser in an Obama White House, told a major foreign policy conference in Washington that the future of US strategy in the war on terrorism should follow a lesson from the pages of Winnie the Pooh, which can be shortened to: if it is causing you too much pain, try something else.

Mr Danzig told the Centre for New American Security: Winnie the Pooh seems to me to be a fundamental text on national security.

Danzig went on to say the animals in the book 'Big Red Barn' were a metaphor for world citizens and that we should, like the characters in the book, 'all live together in the big red barn and play all day in the grass and in the hay.'

Next week, 'Foreign Affairs' will publish an essay by Danzig entitled 'Everyone Poops: We're More Alike than We Are Different so Can't We Just All Get Along?'"

Rachel Corrie's Dreams

Anyone this distorted is either mentally deranged, on drugs, or a Liberal. Is there an option I am missing? I just pity people who are so full of misplaced hate that they can't see the truth when it is surrounding them. Ms Corrie needed serious mental help.

Solomonia: Rachel Corrie's Dreams: "Here's an excellent review of Rachel Corrie's recently published journals, by Roberta P. Seid at Commentary. A snip:

...Finally, what is most curious about Corrie’s Journals is that hard as she tried to impose the ISM narrative on what she saw, her reports constantly contradicted this narrative, though she didn’t recognize the contradictions.

She wrote that decades of occupation had oppressed Palestinians, yet Gazans kept saying that their difficult situation was due to the Intifada and to Israel’s subsequent counterterrorism measures, not to a decades-old occupation. One Gazan said, “There was a peaceful time in the late seventies and early eighties…things were better before Sharon”—that is, before Sharon became Prime Minister in 2001. (253) Another told her: “Before—no tanks, no bulldozers, no gunshots. Quiet….No noise. After Intifada, daily. Gunshots daily.”"

George Bush made the world a safer place

A writer in the Guardian who has something nice to say about President Bush? I need to recover for a while while I contemplate this! This shock is near overwhelming!

Ok, I think I am getting myself under control....

Mr Kamm is so right. He points out Bush's flaws and still has to admit that Mr Bush has done some great things that have changed the world. Thank you, Mr Kamm, for pointing this out to the world.

Oliver Kamm: George Bush made the world a safer place | Comment is free | guardian.co.uk: "When Bush ran for president in 2000 he was an isolationist advocate of scaling back America's overseas commitments. But after 9/11, he was right in not interpreting the attack as confirmation that America was stirring up trouble for itself. The theocratic barbarism responsible for the attack on the Twin Towers was driven not by what America and its allies had done, but by what we represented. In the words of Osama bin Laden, illegitimately appropriating for himself the mantel of Islam, "every Muslim, the minute he can start differentiating, carries hate toward Americans, Jew, and Christians".

The most fundamental decision in western security policy in the past seven years has not been the overthrow of Saddam Hussein. It has been the recognition that the most voluble adversaries of western society are not merely a criminal subculture, and still less an incipient liberation movement. Rather, they are a reactionary, millenarian and atavistic force with whom accommodation is impossible as well as intensely undesirable.

The grand strategy pursued by the US under Bush has overestimated the plasticity of the international order, but it has got one big thing right. There is an integral connection between the terrorism that targets western societies and the autocratic states in which Islamist fanaticism is incubated. Bush is culpable for much that went wrong after the overthrow of Saddam, but the outlook for Iraq has changed fundamentally owing to his decision to appoint General David Petraeus and pursue a confrontational strategy with al-Qaida in Iraq. Scandinavia On Alert

I am part Viking, so I am glad that my ancestors are starting to return to their traditional roots. Kick those Muslims who hate you back to the lands they came from! If the Muslims enter other lands, they need to respect the local laws and authority.

Counter-Terrorism: Scandinavia On Alert: "Scandinavia On Alert
June 16, 2008: Counter-terrorist officials in Denmark and Sweden have openly admitted that some of their Moslem immigrant citizens are involved in planning terror attacks in Denmark. Al Qaeda has called for such attacks, in response to cartoons published in Danish newspapers, criticizing Islamic terrorists, and Islam in general, for their violence. As a result of this dispute, Denmark in particular, and Scandinavia in general, are becoming more hostile to Islam, and Moslem migrants who take advantage of Scandinavian hospitality by openly calling for terrorist violence (to avenge real or imagined insults). The Moslem migrant communities in these countries are split. The majority just want to make the best of their new (and much improved) circumstances. But a sizable minority of these migrants are believers in al Qaeda, and its mission of converting the world (using force, if necessary) to Islam."

Happy Birthday, Magna Carta

Happy Birthday!

Go read the history that the Wolf gives. This is a key part of modern liberty.

Wolf Howling: Happy Birthday, Magna Carta: "In the year of our Lord, 1215, following years of abuse at the hands of an oppressive monarch, King John 'Landlack,' the English Lords rebelled. And out of that rebellion came an agreement, the Magna Carta - one of the foundational documents of Western Civilization."

Israeli soldiers to be released next week, says media

This could be wonderful news, depending upon what the trade off is. I am very happy for the families of these lads. I will pray for the victims of the terrorists being released.

AKI - Adnkronos international Middle East: Israeli soldiers to be released next week, says media: "Military sources in Lebanon expect the Shia Islamic militant group Hezbollah to release abducted Israeli soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev in a prisoner exchange next week, according to Middle East media reports.

The Lebanese newspaper As-Safir said on Monday the deal would take place between 20 and 25 June.

Hezbollah guerillas kidnapped Goldwasser and Regev in a cross-border raid sparking the 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict.

The IDF soldiers are believed to have been badly wounded during their abduction and no proof has been offered that they are alive by Hezbollah, a Lebanon-based militant organisation.

News of the prospective prisoner exchange was widely published in Israeli newspapers on Monday.

Negotiations have reportedly been expedited between Israel and Hezbollah, through German mediation.

According to media reports, the Saudi-owned paper al-Sharq al-Awsat has also reported that the family of jailed Lebanese terrorist Samir Kuntar has begun to prepare for his imminent return to Lebanon as part of the exchange.

Kuntar's return to Lebanon is considered one of Israel's commitments in the deal."

Iraq Will Take Control of 2 More Provinces in Coming Weeks

Hurray! And here I thought that the War for Iraq was lost and only terrorists were allowed to go there without being slaughtered like pigs...

I guess I just don't understand how that works. Where is a Liberal who can explain these little problem with the world for me?

Gateway Pundit: Iraq Will Take Control of 2 More Provinces in Coming Weeks: "Iraqi officials will take over security responsibility of two more provinces.
Already, the Iraqi democracy is in charge of 9 of its 18 provinces.

The Democratic government of Iraq will take over responsibility of Anbar, a province once reported as lost, and Qadisiya (Diwaniya) Province in the coming weeks."

Hamas claims responsibility for deadly Gaza house blast

Hamas is just a worthless bunch of crazy fanatics who want to kill. They don't even care who they kill or endanger! What scum. I will pray for the children who were involved in this.

Hamas claims responsibility for deadly Gaza house blast - USATODAY.com: "Hamas is claiming responsibility for a house explosion in northern Gaza that killed seven Palestinians, one of them an infant girl.

An announcement Friday on the official website of Hamas' military wing says the group's 'martyrs' died 'while putting the final touches on a plan to carry out a special holy war mission.'

Five militants were among those who died in the explosion that flattened the house Thursday.

Immediately after the blast, Hamas blamed Israel. But Israel denied involvement."

Smugglers Had Design For Advanced Warhead

I love how this dangerous information was just floating around for sale. I am glad that I left city life! In the modern world the cities are becoming too dangerous to live in. The terrorists aren't going to waste a nuke on a small town in rural no-where where I live.

Smugglers Had Design For Advanced Warhead: "An international smuggling ring that sold bomb-related parts to Libya, Iran and North Korea also managed to acquire blueprints for an advanced nuclear weapon, according to a draft report by a former top U.N. arms inspector that suggests the plans could have been shared secretly with any number of countries or rogue groups.

The drawings, discovered in 2006 on computers owned by Swiss businessmen, included essential details for building a compact nuclear device that could be fitted on a type of ballistic missile used by Iran and more than a dozen developing countries, the report states.

The computer contents -- among more than 1,000 gigabytes of data seized -- were recently destroyed by Swiss authorities under the supervision of the U.N. nuclear watchdog agency, which is investigating the now-defunct smuggling ring previously led by Pakistani scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan.

But U.N. officials cannot rule out the possibility that the blueprints were shared with others before their discovery, said the report's author, David Albright, a prominent nuclear weapons expert who spent four years researching the smuggling network.

"These advanced nuclear weapons designs may have long ago been sold off to some of the most treacherous regimes in the world," Albright wrote in a draft report about the blueprint's discovery. A copy of the report, expected to be published later this week, was provided to The Washington Post."

Cold wars at sea - April 2008

China is a growing threat at sea and in Cyber space. A war with material might be forced by politics to be off the table, but why are they still allowed massive computers? Those super computers that the Clintons gave China back in the 1990s are being put to good use against our country! I hope they are proud.

ARMED FORCES JOURNAL - Cold wars at sea - April 2008: "It might be tempting to dismiss the U.S. Navy’s potential focus on China as a passing fad — part of the now-familiar phenomena of “China fever.” Another perspective holds that this focus can best be explained by a simple case of enemy deprivation syndrome. While there is a kernel of truth in both of these intellectual approaches, facts on, above and especially under the water increasingly belie these conclusions and demand serious attention from American strategists.

China has launched more than 36 new submarines since 1995 — far outpacing U.S. intelligence estimates from a decade ago. Additionally, supersonic indigenous cruise missiles, rumored development of an anti-ship ballistic missile, dynamic mine warfare and amphibious warfare programs, invigorated aerial maritime strike capabilities, as well as a variety of new, sleek and modern surface combatants, suggest a broad front effort by the People’s Liberation Army Navy.

The U.S. Navy, in partnership with the Marine Corps and Coast Guard, unveiled the new Maritime Strategy in October, but this document makes no mention of China and its dynamic naval development. This does not mean that the Navy can or should “set aside” the China question. Some informed critics have questioned whether the Navy was being honest with itself in considering the scope of"

John Roy Carlson: Under Cover

An American Hero that I have never heard of? I am amazed that I have missed this guy in my readings. I am ordering this book and going to learn more. Thanks for this Solomon!

Solomonia: John Roy Carlson: Under Cover: "John Roy Carlson is a name mostly forgotten, though it deserves to be remembered. In brief, Carlson was the pen name for a guy named Arthur Derounian, an Armenian from Alexandria, Greece who moved to the US as a young man with his family in 1921. Having experienced life in a region of war-torn ethnic strife, Carlson (for simplicity, I will refer to him by the name he wrote under) fell in love with America, with democracy, with all the nation stood for (and, as his later career would show, a philosemite). He made good, worked hard, and attended the Columbia J-school (in the days before it turned you into the enemy, haha).

An incident in 1933 was formative. He witnessed the assassination of a beloved Armenian priest right there in the aisle of a New York church perpetrated by members of an Armenian political party. The incident hammered home to Carlson that two oceans were not enough to keep the political violence of the Old World away from his beloved new home. That home needed active protection on the part of those, like himself, who knew the dangers that were out there.

So Carlson was well prepared as the 1930's wound on, and Fascism arose, casting its choking vines westward. Under the assumed identity of "Italian-American" George Pagnanelli, Carlson spent the late 1930's and early '40s infiltrating American fascist organizations, culminating in his most well-known book, written in 1943, Under Cover; My Four Years in the Nazi Underworld of America -- The Amazing Revelation of How Axis Agents and Our Enemies Within Are Now Plotting to Destroy the United States. It reads like a mystery novel, and contains a history with so many rhymes with the present that the public square deserves a recitation."

Karzai issues warning to Pakistan

What would happen if two of the Coalition Members were to start a war over the Taliban and extremists? This could be interesting... I will keep an eye on this.

BBC NEWS | South Asia | Karzai issues warning to Pakistan: "Afghan President Hamid Karzai has threatened to send troops over the border into Pakistan to confront militants based there.

He said that when militants crossed over from Pakistan to kill Afghans and coalition troops, his nation had the right to retaliate in 'self-defence'.

Mr Karzai's remarks came two days after Taleban fighters attacked an Afghan jail, freeing hundreds of prisoners.

Pakistan warned it would not tolerate outside interference in its affairs.

Yusuf Raza Gilani, Pakistan's prime minister, said the border between their two countries was too long to police."

Information Warfare: The Longer War Gets Worse

China. China. China.

Why is it that so many cyber attacks come from China? Why can't anyone do something about it? Why are the Media so quiet about this? This article is much longer than the snippet here. You need to whole thing if you want the bigger picture. It gets scary! I think I need a professional so sweep my computers for hidden nastiness...

Information Warfare: The Longer War Gets Worse: "Several U.S. legislators (from the House of Representatives) have complained that their computers were infected by eavesdropping software inserted by hackers traced back to China. There was a similar flap over two years ago. Back then, there was enough proof to know that China was behind the increasing number of Internet based attacks, but not enough to call China out on it."

Cash-strapped convention panel cancels media event

Interesting that the only hope for a balanced budget in the US future is a Party that can't even balance it's own budget. Well, they could, IF they could raise taxes! Because raising taxes is the only way to get more money. Send armed thugs from the IRS to take the money from the job creating class!

Cash-strapped convention panel cancels media event: "The host committee for the Democratic National Convention faces a possible shortfall of $15 million, complicating logistics for the August event and forcing it to abruptly postpone a media walkthrough of the site scheduled for next week.

The committee announced Friday that it had delayed the session for the news media and hoped to reschedule at a later date. 'Postponing the event allows us to work through outstanding issues and ensure a successful event when media do arrive in Denver,' said Theodore LeCompte, the DNCC's director of media logistics.

Hundreds of representatives from television, radio and newspaper organizations were planning to attend the event Thursday at the Pepsi Center, where Democrats will gather Aug. 25-28 to nominate their presidential and vice presidential candidates.

The Democratic National Committee has asked the cash-strapped panel to raise $40.6 million by Monday to finance the event. Last month, the committee said it had just $25 million in cash.

Last week, business leaders demanded more details about convention plans, saying they need to know what events and schedules the city and organizers are planning so they can make their own plans. Convention officials promised more details will be announced in coming weeks."

Former USF student admits to supporting terrorists

I just know that all the Leftists and Muslims who have supported these 'innocent Muslims' are going to cry about forcing this confession with torture, but most people have known they were pretty suspicious to begin with. I would love to see some of the supporters publicly admit they were wrong, however. I will admit that they were wrong for them, since they never ever will.

Tampabays10.com | Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater | Former USF student admits to supporting terrorists: "Ahmed Abdellatif Sherif Mohamed entered a plea agreement Friday.

In the court document, he admits to providing material to support terrorists. He also acknowledges that a YouTube video he produced was to be used in 'preparation for or in carrying out the killing of employees of the United States,' including uniformed personnel.

Mohamed and Youssef Megahed were arrested August 4, 2007, in Goose Creek, South Carolina after a traffic stop. Authorities recovered a number of items from the car which constituted explosive materials.

Megahed remains in custody.

Mohamed faces a maximum sentence of 15 years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine and a term of supervised release."

Korea: Northern Troops Are Farming, Not Training

north Korea is a cess pit of corruption, which survives by blackmailing other countries with missile attacks. This is a couple of weeks old and the South Koreans have decided to send 50,000 tons on food to the North. Even a weak threat like this is enough to get the Leftists who run the bureaucracies of most Western-style countries to cave in. Dropping a lot of food in airdrops with radios and other Western luxuries would be even better to get those people to finally revolt against their thuggish masters.

Korea: Northern Troops Are Farming, Not Training: "May 31, 2008: North Korea fired three missiles, to protest the refusal of South Korea and its allies to supply free oil and food. North Korea is also upset over religious and North Korean refugee groups sending balloons across the DMZ (with portable radios, bibles, food, etc). North Korea does not like the new, more conservative South Korean government either, which is less eager to give in to North Korean demands. The missiles used were decades old Styx anti-ship missiles. This 1950s design was produced in large quantities by North Korea before the Cold War ended, and there are over a hundred of these elderly missiles that could be fired before they become too old to be used. Which is what the North Koreans do periodically."

Fred Thompson on Constitutional Rights for Terrorists

Why do terrorists get any rights? What rights to their victims have? The only rights that mass murderers have are the right to die the same as their victims. Well, in an Absolut World.

The Jawa Report: Fred Thompson on Constitutional Rights for Terrorists: "Fred Thompson on Constitutional Rights for Terrorists

I don't care what y'all say, Fred Thompson still kicks ass:

In reading the [Supreme Court's] majority opinion I am struck by the utter waste that is involved here. No, not the waste of military resources and human life, although such a result is tragically obvious. I refer to the waste of all those years these justices spent in law school studying how adherence to legal precedent is the bedrock of the rule of law, when it turns out, all they really needed was a Pew poll, a subscription to the New York Times, and the latest edition of “How to Make War for Dummies.”"

Italy defends move to patrol streets with soldiers

This is an interesting use of the military! I like it!

Maybe we could do this in Detroit and DC? Add in LA and Chicago and other gang ridden cities. Maybe we can let the Spec Ops boys loose on the gangs. We can clean them up in a few weeks and let the police handle the remainders. I love this idea!

Italy defends move to patrol streets with soldiers - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation): "The Italian government has defended its decision to use soldiers to patrol cities in an effort to curb crime, rejecting criticism that it will 'militarise' the streets.

'There is a strong call from citizens for better control of the streets, for improved safety,' Defence Minister Ignazio La Russa told Sky Italia television.

'My hope is that particularly in the evening, in the cities, these troops can ensure greater safety.'

The government announced on Friday that up to 2,500 soldiers, some of whom have served in Afghanistan and Kosovo, would be made available for a trial period of six months to bolster the police in difficult urban areas.

Silvio Berlusconi's new conservative government won an April election on a law-and-order ticket, and crime and public safety have stayed on top of the political agenda since Mr Berlusconi took office."

Janet Reno's No. 2 possible attorney general for Obama

Dear Lord! The lawyer who wrote the "Wall" between the CIA and FBI so that they can not share information on terrorists might become the new Attorney General? This woman is dangerous to the safety of the free world, not just the United States! Put her in Gitmo and allow the wonderful friends she makes there to learn from her keen desire to destroy America.

Janet Reno's No. 2 possible attorney general for Obama: "A panel of Democratic Party legal heavyweights speculated Jamie Gorelick, former deputy attorney general in the Clinton administration, could be appointed attorney general if Barack Obama were elected president.

In a panel chaired by Elena Kagan, dean and professor of law at Harvard Law School, Gorelick charged on the opening plenary panel of the American Constitution's Society two-day meeting in Washington that the Bush administration had politicized the operation of the Justice Department.

Gorelick said that if she were appointed attorney general in an Obama administration, her first job would be to 'fix' the Department of Justice.

'The Justice Department only functions well if the career lawyers have a voice and are actively consulted,' Gorelick told the 700 attendees. 'In the old order, if the White House wanted to know if something was lawful, it would call the Justice Department, and there would be a lot of discussion within the Justice Department at the attorney general's office. The legal opinion would be the product of the Justice Department's work.'"
