World's Evilest Thugs Shocked as GOP Takes Hell Hot Spot

Comrade Durbin is a moron. Why is he allowed to spew hate speech like this when he should be in Cuba causing trouble? Or Belarus? Or someplace besides the US???

Groupthink :: View topic - World's Evilest Thugs Shocked as GOP Takes Hell Hot Spot: "(Dante's Inferno, 7th Level) - Senator Dick Durbin's (D-IL) comment 'The hottest ring in Hell is reserved for those in politics who attack their opponents' families' made to NBC's Norah O'Donnell has sent shockwaves to evil thugs around the world, who thought they were a shoe-in for the top hot spot in the eternal pit of damnation and hellfire. An assortment of Nazis, Communists, terrorists, and other violent and sadistic figures were found consoling each other shortly after Durbin's official announcement.
~

This is not the first Durbin's statement that has had international thugs peeved. In 2006 he also compared Nazis and Communists to the US troops, dashing the hopes of many in the US Armed Forces, who naively believed that liberating Iraq and pacifying the Middle East would put them in the top spot. And now he denied them even the hottest ring of Hell.

'I was really looking forward to the hottest ring of hell, which has got to be a lot cooler than Falujah,' said Pfc. Smith who is serving his third tour in Iraq. 'But since the place has been reserved for Obama's critics I guess I'll have to wait 'til Halliburton gets into the air conditioning business, or maybe I'll just borrow Joe Stalin's sweater.'
'I really thought we had the hottest spot locked up after star"

This isn't Mr. Roger's neighborhood, kids

Working with terrorists is in line with the the goals of UNICEF? Is that what the UN is saying in this? Help the terrorists to build more training camps for children to learn to kill and slaughter?

I start to despise the UN more every time they do something stupid like this! Where are the people with brains to help them out?

This isn't Mr. Roger's neighborhood, kids: "The United Nations Children's Fund has announced an agreement with an organization linked by the U.S. government to al-Qaida and the Taliban to work to improve services to children in Saudi Arabia.

The announcement from UNICEF this week confirmed a new memorandum of understanding with the International Islamic Relief Organization 'to strengthen cooperation and support for children's rights, health, equality and protection in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other countries.'

The U.S. Treasury Department, however, identifies the IIRO as a group with one leader who 'provided donor funds directly to al-Qaida and is identified as a major fundraiser for the Abu Sayyaf (ASG) and Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) (terror organizations).'

A leader, Adb Al Hamid Sulaimian Al-Mujil, often directs funds be transferred to the IIRO organizations blamed by the government for terrorism, including training al-Qaida operatives, in the Philippines and Indonesia, the report said.

'The partnership with IIROSA is in-line with UNICEF's policy that encourages the exchange of expertise and experiences regionally and internationally; and to collaborate and join forces as part of the Millennium Development Goals,' said Ayman Abu Laban, who is the UNICEF representative for the region."

Tim Russert Dies at 58

I did not like this guys blatant politics, but he was a really nice guy. I pray that our Lord will accept him and that He will comfort the Russert family. I hope that NBC is able to find a suitable replacement. (Maybe Allan Combes? )

FOXNews.com - NBC Washington Bureau Chief Tim Russert Dies at 58 - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News: "NBC Washington Bureau Chief Tim Russert has died, NBC reported Friday.

Russert, host of top-rated Sunday talk show 'Meet the Press,' reportedly died of a heart attack. He was 58.

A noticeably shaken Tom Brokaw made the announcement live from New York, saying his colleague collapsed and died at work in the NBC News bureau in Washington.

Brokaw said Russert had just returned from a trip with his wife and son, who had just graduated Boston College."

What kind of war crimes trials does Obama plan? (updated)

Who wants to bet that Obama wants to forgive the terrorists who are using children and the mentally disabled to set off bombs in markets full of innocents while he goes after the people who are trying to get the terrorists and criminals?

American Thinker Blog: What kind of war crimes trials does Obama plan? (updated): "Barack Obama's plan for imposing unity on the nation after he takes office apparently entails a close look at war crimes trials for Bush administration officials. He has even said so in an interview with Will Bunch of the Philadelphia Daily News.

This kind of change -- putting your predecessors on trial for their conduct of policy -- may not be what most Americans really want or expect from someone with Obama's gauzy rhetoric of unity. But unity has a dark side in the hands of people who regard their opponents as criminals. America has two centuries-plus of history lacking the totalitarian practice of jailing the predecessors when a new president takes office.

This is the sort of proposal one might expect from a man steeped in Marxism at his church, from his friends like Ayers, and as a member of the Alinsky Left. But I am surprised he let this slip."

Lisbon Treaty rejected by Irish electorate

I followed a lot of good links to get to this important story, but here it is! The EU socialists are crying about a 'crisis' while the people with common sense are rejoicing. Congrats!

I have always loved Ireland, and am part Irish, so this just makes me proud! I would hoist a Guinness, but I am living dry. Maybe one won't hurt?

ireland.com - Breaking News - Lisbon Treaty rejected by Irish electorate: "The Lisbon Treaty has been rejected by Irish voters sparking a crisis for plans to reform European Union structures.

A total of 53.4 per cent voted to reject the treaty, while 46.6 per cent voted in favour. All but 10 constituencies rejected the treaty, with a total of 752,451 voting in favour of Lisbon and 862,415 votes against. Turnout was 53.1 per cent.

Taoiseach Brian Cowen's constituency of Laois Offaly was last to declare a result and voted in favour of the treaty.

Tallies from early on in the count this morning showed the No campaign appeared to be winning in most constituencies across the State, with significant majorities emerging from rural and urban working class areas in particular.

Luxembourg Premier and Finance Minister Jean-Claude Juncker said the defeat of the Lisbon Treaty represents a new 'European crisis.'

'Ireland said 'no' to the Lisbon Treaty,'' Juncker told reporters in Luxembourg today. 'This is not good for Europe.'"

Solid proof of cooling!

I have always been a Cubs fan but I rarely watch since their games are harder to watch now that I have moved away from Chicago. A couple of decades ago. I think Hell has frozen over! The Cubs are winning! Miracles do happen?

Solar Soft House Converts Household Curtains Into Electric Power - Switched

Way cool! I need these to hook up all my fun gadgets and never run up a huge bill. Where will they be sold in my area?

Solar Soft House Converts Household Curtains Into Electric Power - Switched: "Bravo Sheila Kennedy, bravo. You might just save us from our gadget-obsessed selves if the Soft House you've designed can pump the 16,000 watt-hours you predict. The design features thin photovoltaic films woven into semi-transparent curtains. The idea is similar to the solar power ski-suits (seriously) we've seen. Unfortunately, a home fitted entirely in solar textiles is still too costly at the moment. Cost measured in cash, apparently."

French First Lady Carla Bruni's Song Lyrics Have Colombian Leaders Fuming

Columbia has a good point! You would think that even the French might make a little effort, politically, to ensure that nothing bad happens by accident. Ooops!

Of course, this sounds like a stupid song anyway. This post is mainly to get a chance to post a picture of a hot Lady!

FOXNews.com - French First Lady Carla Bruni's Song Lyrics Have Colombian Leaders Fuming - International News | News of the World | Middle East News | Europe News: "French first lady Carla Bruni's new song has left Colombia's leaders furious.

In one of the songs on her new album to be released in July, the ex-model and wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy, mentions 'Colombian white.'

'You are my drug. More deadly than Afghan heroin. More dangerous than Colombian white,' Bruni reportedly sings.

'From the mouth of the wife of the French president, this statement is very painful for Colombia,' Bogota's top diplomat Fernando Araujo said.

'Such things come out when we mix politics with theater,' he added.

Araujo said that for Colombia, the world's leading source of cocaine, consumption of the drug 'translates into deaths and violence in Colombia.'

'And instead of making an apology for consumption, we hope that the entire world will join us in the war against drugs,' he said."

Officials fell trees inscribed by US soldiers who fought for France

I thought the French had forgotten about WWII? It is nice to see that some have not and are fighting to preserve some of the monuments left by the GIs. Viv la France!

Officials fell trees inscribed by US soldiers who fought for France - Times Online: "The names “Thomas and Dorothy” were carved in the bark of one trunk. Another said “Bob and Carma”. Other trees were marked with soldiers’ home states - Iowa, Maine or Alabama - and several bore hearts and the names or initials of a wife or girlfriend.

The beech trees of Saint Pierre de Varengeville-Duclair forest bore a poignant testimony to the D-Day landings for more than six decades. Thousands of American soldiers stationed there after the liberation of Normandy spent their spare hours with a knife or bayonet creating a lasting reminder of their presence.

Although the trees grew and the graffiti swelled and twisted, this most peculiar memory of one of the 20th century’s defining moments remained visible - until now. Amid bureaucratic indifference and a dispute between officials and the forest owner, most of the trees have been felled, chopped up and turned into paper.

Claude Quétel, a French historian and Second World War specialist, was horrified when he discovered what he called a catastrophe and a shameless act. “It is a typically French failing to wipe out the traces of the past,” he told The Times. “I am indignant.”"

Israel still seeks truce after 50 projectiles pound Negev

The Pallys get all bent out of shape becasue the Evil Jews won't just run into the sea and die. Meanwhile, those same Jews are condemned by the RU and UN for not tolerating these daily attacks. In What can the Israelis do? They can't make everyone happy unless they die. Since they won't do that, they just keep being successful and that makes their enemies even more upset. Good!

Now, flatten Gaza and then rebuild it with nice buildings that the locals might decide they would rather live in than shoot rockets from.

Israel still seeks truce after 50 projectiles pound Negev | Jerusalem Post: "As more than 50 mortar shells, Kassam and Katyusha rockets were fired into Israel from Gaza on Thursday, the Defense Ministry was still working to 'exhaust' the dialogue with Egypt on a cease-fire with Hamas, sources in the Prime Minister's Office said.

Western Negev comes under heavy rocket barrage

Amos Gilad, head of the Defense Ministry's Diplomatic-Security Bureau, returned Thursday night from a meeting in Cairo with Egyptian Intelligence chief Omar Suleiman to try to finalize a deal.

Defense officials said Gilad asked the Egyptians for clarifications on the release of kidnapped soldier Gilad Schalit in conjunction with a truce deal, as well as on Cairo's promise to step up efforts to curb the smuggling of weapons into Gaza under the Philadelphi Corridor."

President Obama? Many White Supremacists are Celebrating

I think these guys are nuts, but they might be right about one thing - Obama has to be very careful or he is going to drive a bunch of people to the Far Right. His penchant for associating with racists is well demonstrated so these new racists are not much of a surprise.

Also, look at the comments for this post. I noticed quickly that the most rabid haters are from the Left and are mainly illiterate. The most literate comments seemed to come from Moderates or Supporters for the Racists. Why is it that morons are the most vocal people on the Far Left and the Far Right?

President Obama? Many White Supremacists are Celebrating | Hatewatch | Southern Poverty Law Center: "With the nomination of Barack Obama as the Democratic presidential candidate clinched, large sections of the white supremacist movement are adopting a surprising attitude: Electing America’s first black president would be a very good thing.

It’s not that the assortment of neo-Nazis, Klansmen, anti-Semites and others who make up this country’s radical right have suddenly discovered that a man should be judged based on the content of his character, not his skin. On the contrary. A growing number of white supremacists, and even some of those who pass for intellectual leaders of their movement, think that a black man in the Oval Office would shock white America, possibly drive millions to their cause, and perhaps even set off a race war that, they hope, would ultimately end in Aryan victory."

Wolf Howling

This is a great look at the differences of Wahhabism vs the other Muslim sects. It is also a good look at how the State Dept. is working to help the Wahhabis to corrupt the West.

Wolf Howling: "It is difficult to imagine a more backwards, repressive and violent culture than that of Arabia - a land conquered by the House of Saud with incredible slaughter for the purpose of imposing their Dark Ages interpretation of the Koran - Wahhabism. As Bernard Lewis has described it, think of the most virulent cell of the KKK supported by all of the oil wealth of Texas. Thus if you are surprised by today's news that the Saudi's are teaching children their undiluted doctrine of racism, xenephobia, violence and Wahhabi triumphalism at a Saudi run school in Virginia, then you haven't been paying attention.

The school at issue in Northern Virginia is unique in the U.S. It is a school run by the Saudi government. It uses the same Saudi text books as are used in schools in Saudi Arabia and in the madrassas they fund around the world with their vast oil wealth.

What should also not be surprising is the news that our State Dept. is covering-up for the Saudis. It is not surprising, but heads should roll for it."

Bush's America: 100 Percent Al-Qaida Free Since 2001 - HUMAN EVENTS

I do not quote Ms Coulter often, since she IS a bit of a firebrand, but she often has nuggets of truth mixed into her rhetoric. This is one of those times. If you want to read the rest, go there.

Ann, you have one of the best minds in the nation and constantly work over the 'blond' myth. You and the other Conservative Women are wonderful! Keep up the excellent work.

Bush's America: 100 Percent Al-Qaida Free Since 2001 - HUMAN EVENTS: "Al-Qaida is virtually destroyed, surprising even the CIA. Two weeks ago, The Washington Post reported: 'Less than a year after his agency warned of new threats from a resurgent al-Qaida, CIA Director Michael V. Hayden now portrays the terrorist movement as essentially defeated in Iraq and Saudi Arabia and on the defensive throughout much of the rest of the world, including in its presumed haven along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.'

It's almost as if there's been some sort of 'surge' going on, as strange as that sounds.

Just this week, The New York Times reported that al-Qaida and other terrorist groups in Southeast Asia have all but disappeared, starved of money and support. The U.S. and Australia have been working closely with the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia, sending them counterterrorism equipment and personnel.

But no one notices when 9/11 doesn't happen. Indeed, if we had somehow stopped the 9/11 attack, we'd all be watching Mohammed Atta being interviewed on MSNBC, explaining his lawsuit against the Bush administration. Maureen Dowd would be writing columns describing Khalid Sheik Mohammed as a 'wannabe' terrorist being treated like Genghis Khan by an excitable Bush administration."

ATF: "Molotov" cocktail started Governor's Mansion fire

I can't think of any reason to attack the historic building like this. Is it a political statement? Or is it a drugged out freak? Or both? Catch this freak and put him through Heck for a little while. Give him a taste of what people who revere history feel when he does this.

ATF: "Molotov" cocktail started Governor's Mansion fire: "Early on Thursday, state Fire Marshal Paul Maldonado confirmed Sunday's fire at the Governor's Mansion was arson. He says a surveillance camera captured on video an individual igniting an object and tossing onto the building's front porch. From there, the fire spread rapidly. Maldonado says evidence shows an accelerant was used in the crime.

Officials would not say if the suspect is male or female. The surveillance video is being enhanced in order to gather more clues."

Afghanistan: The Easy Way Out

It will take a few more years at current NATO levels, but only a couple of years IF the NATO partners would allow their forces to conduct combat operations. So, why don't those countries want to get this over with? Are they all that afraid of their Leftist populations? Or are they afraid of their Muslim populations? Or is it a combination of the two? Is there another reason that I am missing?

Afghanistan: The Easy Way Out: "The Pakistanis also don't care if the Taliban continue to send volunteers across the border to aid their beleaguered fellow Taliban in Afghanistan. This, obviously, is a major source of dispute between the Afghan and Pakistani governments, as well as between the U.S. and NATO, and the Pakistani government. Meanwhile, U.S. armed UAVs, and CIA agents Special Forces troops, are going after terrorist leaders in Pakistan, and the Pakistani government is generally ignoring this effort. The CIA and Special Forces operators have established an informant network in the Pakistani tribal areas. That region contains lots of people willing to be informants, either because of hatred of the Taliban, and/or because of the big payday for working as an American spy. When terrorists are located, a UAV rolls in and fires a missile or two. There have been five of these attacks so far this year, leaving dozens of Taliban and al Qaeda members dead.

NATO and the Americans continue to put lots of diplomatic and economic pressure on Pakistan to go after their Taliban. So far, this effort is deadlocked. So is the war against the Taliban, mainly because so many are seeking an easy way out. Some NATO commanders believe that, after five or ten years of the current kind of operations, the Taliban will be wiped out, and the Afghans can get back to their traditional pursuits (tribal feuds and massive corruption among government officials at the provincial and national level.)"

Secret al-Qaida, Iraq files found on British train

I hope this idiot is fired and sent to some salt mine some place. I am amazed that the BBC is going to sit on the exact contents of this. They usually print anything that will hurt the British in huge headline to ensure that the enemies of the State can see it.

Maybe that means it was good news?

Secret al-Qaida, Iraq files found on British train: "Secret government documents on al-Qaida and Iraq were left on a commuter train, prompting a major police investigation into the latest in a series of embarrassing security breaches, British officials said Wednesday.

The documents belonged to a senior intelligence official in the Cabinet office and were found by a passenger on a London commuter train Tuesday. The envelope was then passed to the British Broadcasting Corp.

Seven pages stamped 'UK Top Secret' included the latest government intelligence assessment on al-Qaida and Iraq's security forces, the BBC said. The documents were also stamped 'for UK/US/Canadian and Australian eyes only.' The first page was dated June 5, the BBC reported.

Two of the assessments were made by the British government's Joint Intelligence Committee. The report on Iraq was commissioned by the Ministry of Defence. The al-Qaida report was commissioned by the Foreign and the Home Offices."

Scouts praised for response to tornado in Iowa

It is too bad that Scouts are not as popular as they used to be. The good news is that no matter how much has changed over the years, they still train boys to be responsible. Thank the Lord!

Scouts praised for response to tornado in Iowa: "Boy Scouts who came to the aid of their colleagues after a tornado that killed four of their comrades and injured 48 people were hailed as heroes Thursday for helping to administer first aid and search for victims buried in their flattened campsite.

Iowa rescue workers cut through downed branches and dug through debris amid rain and lightning Wednesday night to reach the camp where the 93 boys, ages 13 to 18, had huddled for safety through the twister. They and 25 staff members were attending a weeklong leadership training camp.

Lloyd Roitstein, an executive with the Mid America Council of the Boy Scouts of America, reminded reporters at a news conference Thursday that the Boy Scouts motto is 'Be Prepared.'

'Last night, the agencies and the scouts were prepared,' he said. 'They knew what to do, they knew where to go, and they prepared well.'

Iowa Gov. Chet Culver praised the boys for 'taking care of each other.'"

Britain's Final Chances

The Wolf has yet again found a great series of connected articles and posted them all. I don't see any reason to repost it here, so go visit him. I am sure he will like to be hit on.

His analysis is spot on, as usual.

Wolf Howling: Britain's Final Chances: "Britain is at a tipping point on the EU membership in many ways. Things look bleak at the moment. Gordon Brown and Labour are determined to transfer Britain’s sovereignty to the EU without any vote of the people. The 'conservative' Tory Party is little more than a light version of the socialist Labour party. As I posted here, it is led by David Cameron, a weak man driven by political expediency rather than conservative principles who has said that he will treat Labour’s actions as a fait accompli. What is going on in Britain is a stealth coup by a disingenuous political class that is being largely supported by British media though minimalist and superficial coverage.

We are down now to the last three chances to derail British ratification of the Lisbon Treaty and transfer of the bulk of its sovereign powers to the EU. The House of Lords must vote on the Lisbon Treaty this week. Ireland is the only country to hold a referendum on the treaty, and they do so on Thursday. Lastly, there is a court case seeking to force Labour to uphold its pledge and hold a referendum on the EU. Speaking on these issues are Melanie Phillips, John Bolton and EU Referendum’s Dr. Richard North."

Obama is now the only obstacle to victory

You know, if we did start treating the Left as terrorists, we could have then we could have this country running well in just a few months.

Not that I would ever advocate the slaughter and/or internment of Leftists. Except when I am full of drugs from getting a root canal...

The Monkey Tennis Centre: Obama is now the only obstacle to victory: "Obama is now the only obstacle to victory

Matthew Continetti has a piece up at The Weekly Standard on the clear signs of progress being made in the War on Terror, and he rightly gives much of the credit to the policies of President Bush. And it's not just the jihadists that are being defeated – it's also those who opposed the President for political expediency. Continetti writes:

The left's analysis of jihadism has been proved incorrect at every turn. It argued military power would be ineffective against the terrorists. Wrong. It argued that intervention in Iraq would energize bin Laden's movement. That movement is in shambles. The left argued Iraq was a lost cause. It isn't. The left argues that a 'war on terrorism' is futile, that defeat is inevitable, because terrorism is a 'tactic,' not an enemy. Nonsense. President Bush has demonstrated through perseverance and (more often than not) sound policy that the war on terror can be won. And right now we're winning it."

Buh-Bye Pat Regan

Oh the irony! This is too sad to laugh at, but I have an urge to...

What can we do to prevent knives from falling into the wrong hands? Where is the Government Training and Licensing body for Knives? This is too dangerous! When will the Government do something!

End of sarcasm...

Something... and Half of Something: Buh-Bye Pat Regan: "Sadly, earlier this month, prominent anti-gun campaigner Pat Regan was stabbed to death by her own grandson, who suffers from 'mental problems.' He then went out and stabbed someone else.

You kinda have to wonder what Pat was thinking at the very end, perhaps... 'Thank G-d guns are outlawed or I might be tempted to shoot him before he kills me.' Or maybe it was just 'I'm glad don't have one of those evil firearms because I might be tempted to shoot this crazy bastard before he stabs me to death.'

No matter. The killer killed and Pat Regan, founder of Mothers Against Violence, still died a violent death at the hand of a crazy person, a crazy person who killed her, and then tried to kill someone else, for no good reason other than his own insanity. But since nobody got shot, we should all feel safer, right?"

Wolf Howling: Dear Pakistan

The Wolf writes a long list of points about Islam to help the dialog with Muslims who are always pointing out the things about the West that they hate.

Wolf Howling: Dear Pakistan: "Dear Pakistan:

We have received word through the Pakistani newspaper The Daily Times that you intend to request that we in the West 'amend laws regarding freedom of expression in order to prevent offensive incidents such as the printing of blasphemous caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and the production of an anti-Islam film by a Dutch legislator.' We understand that you are motivated to make this plea in order to forestall the violence from Muslims reacting with justifiable homicidal mania to any perceived slight by word or picture. Indeed, you have stated that the recent suicide bombing outside the gates of the Danish Embassy was preventable if we in the West would just silence all criticism of Islam. Since you have been so kind as to take the first step and open up a dialogue on the topic, there are just a few minor things that we too find offensive and were wondering if you perhaps could do something about them.

- Do you think you could discuss the legitimacy of terrorism and violence to advance Islam. While we realize that the Wahhabi, Salafi, Deobandi sects in particular interpret the Koran to mean that they can freely murder non-Muslims or enslave them and rape them, perhaps you can understand why we are a bit offended by all of that? Or is that just Islamophobia on our part?"

Al-Anbar Sheik Offers to Help Fight Osama Bin Laden in Afghanistan

Winning of hearts and minds is a specialty of our military. It is amazing how well it is working! Even to someone like me who has expected it. GW has a lot more about this if you follow the link.

Gateway Pundit: Al-Anbar Sheik Offers to Help Fight Osama Bin Laden in Afghanistan: "When Sheik Ahmad's brother, Sheik Sattar, met with Mr. Bush in Anbar last fall, he told the president that he dedicated his victory over Al Qaeda to the victims of the attacks of September 11, 2001.

Author Eli Lake on the Anbar Awakening Leaders

An Iraqi Sunni leader says he would have no problem sending advisors to Afghanistan to battle Osama Bin Laden's organization.

The Sunni leader of the Al-Anbar Awakening Councils, Sheik Ahmed Fateh Khan al-Rishawi, says that he would send advisors to Afghanistan to help fight Al-Qaeda if asked."

26th MEU assists rescuers after Indiana rains

Thank the Lord for the Marines! Semper Fi, guys. A MEU needs to be ready for anything, and I think this qualifies. This is not a usual mission for you guys.

However, since this is an AP story, I do wonder what was left off.

The Associated Press
Posted : Tuesday Jun 10, 2008 10:09:56 EDT

WILMINGTON, N.C. — North Carolina-based Marines have joined rescue workers in Indiana as the state struggles with heavy rainfall that is flooding rivers to levels not seen since 1913.

As many as 11 inches of rain swamped Indiana over the weekend, flooding homes, threatening dams and closing several roads and highways.

Marines and sailors from Camp Lejeune’s 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit provided video and photos of the storm damage. They also used H-46E Sea Knight helicopters to help evacuate equipment and beds from a hospital.

The nearly 2,200 Marines and sailors were in Indiana completing three weeks of urban training. The unit will deploy in the fall to Europe and the Middle East. It is made up of aviation, ground and logistics units."

Conn. police find pipe bomb stuffed inside chicken - Yahoo! News: "Authorities in Connecticut are wondering who stuffed a raw roasting chicken with a pipe bomb and left it on a roadside.

Simsbury police Capt. Matthew Catania says a motorist noticed the chicken Monday morning. He says the bomb was large enough to harm a person if it went off.

Much Lizardly Ado About . . . A Little Something

This is a very long post about the efforts around the world to combat radical Islam. You need to read it and learn more. I have not been able to read the entire thing yet, but made it almost the whole way, learning much as I went. I hope you can learn too.

Wolf Howling: Much Lizardly Ado About . . . A Little Something (Updated): "The DHS, several weeks ago, decided to alter the semantics of how they refer to Islamic terrorists. That was a decision that has been much derided by many commentators, including me, perhaps unduly harshly. Dafydd is strongly of the school of thought that supports the DHS approach 'in order to open . . . an ideological counterinsurgency.' This approach involves using alternatives to the terms such as 'jihadi' and 'Islamofacism.' 'Jihadi' means a 'holy warrior,' which is precisely the status to which those motivated by Islam to commit terror aspire. Calling them 'jihadis' elevates them to that status in their eyes and the eyes of the world. Calling them something else would stop that. Dafydd sees such efforts as a nascent step towards engaging in the ideological battlefield. He sees this semantic effort as a way of discrediting the terrorists and driving a stake in between them and Muslims who do not support terrorism."

oooh! Smackdown!

You have to love it when the devout Muslim can't quote the Koran as well as the devout Jew! Truth will always win in the end.

Another funny bit is that the Muslims is upset about his ancestors drinking wine, but not burying girls alive. Interesting religion when a sip of wine is so much more offensive than the slow and agonizing slaughter of an innocent little girl. Can any of my Muslim readers tell this Jew how many time Jerusalem is mentioned in the Koran, just to prove him wrong?

Something... and Half of Something: oooh! Smackdown!: "'Building in Jerusalem is another nail in the coffin in negotiations with the Palestinian Authority,' narrator Jimal Rian asserted. Dr. Kedar answered in fluent Arabic, 'This was our capital 3,000 years ago, and we were here when your forefathers were drinking wine, burying girls alive and worshipping pre-Muslim idols. This is our city and it will be our city forever.'

His reference to Muslims drinking wine, which is forbidden in Islam, infuriated the host. Rian wagged his finger in the air and said excitedly, 'If you want to talk about history, you cannot erase Jerusalem from the Koran, and don’t attack the Muslim religion if we want to continue talking.'

Dr. Kedar replied, 'Jerusalem is not mentioned even once in the Koran. Jerusalem is a Jewish city.'

The Al Jazeera host responded by quoting a verse from the Koran in which he thought Jerusalem was mentioned by name, but stopped in the middle upon realizing that it only refers to 'the farthest place.'

Dr. Kedar: 'Jerusalem is not mentioned in the Koran even once. You can't rewrite the Koran on air on Al Jazeera.'"

The Navy Invented Sex

No comment needed! HAHA!

Military Jokes
Military Humor
: "The Navy Invented Sex

A Marine and a sailor were sitting in a bar one day arguing over which was the superior service.

After a swig of beer the Marine says, 'Well, we had Iwo Jima.'

Arching his eyebrows, the sailor replies, 'We had the Battle of Midway.

'Not entirely true', responded the Marine. 'Some of those pilots were Marines, in fact, Henderson Field on Guadalcanal was named after a Marine pilot killed at the Battle of Midway.'

The sailor responds, 'Point taken.'

The Marine then says, 'We Marines were born at Tunn Tavern!'

The sailor, nodding agreement, says, 'But we had John Paul Jones.'

The argument continued until the sailor comes up with what he thinks will end the discussion. With a flourish of finality he says...... 'The Navy invented sex!'

The Marine replies, 'That is true, but it was the Marines who introduced it to women.'"

I can just see the nuts grabbing hold of this! HAHAHA!!

Afghanistan: This Is Insane, But Normal: "The sharp increase in world food prices has hit Afghanistan, with the price of wheat going up 400 percent so far this year. This has hurt the Taliban, because many farmers now find it more profitable (and less of a hassle) to grow wheat instead of poppies (used to create opium and heroin.) This has also led to more raids on food convoys (headed for parts of the country suffering famine)."

Peace Destroys the French Army

There is a joke here about the French military....

I think I will just wish their few soldiers a better life.

Murphy's Law: Peace Destroys the French Army: "French Defense Ministry readiness documents were leaked to the media, revealing what a lot of people in the military already knew. That is, the French armed forces are largely a hollow shell. Most of the money goes to the payroll and procurement, and not enough to maintenance. As a result, half the armored vehicles, and over half the aircraft, are not fit for service. Spare parts, and maintenance personnel are in short supply. This can be most easily seen by comparing how much is spent each year per person in the military. In the United States, it's $350,000. In Britain (which also has maintenance problems), it's $194,000, while in France it is $84,000. The money goes mainly for show. Lots of troops, with modern weapons that look good, but break down if you try and use them. The leaked report listed numerous breakdowns during a recent operation against Somali pirates. It was only the skill of the troops, and luck, that prevented this from turning into a disaster.

The French problem is a common one throughout Europe, where the post Cold War military is as seen more of a jobs program, to keep unemployment down, than as a serious attempt to maintain military power. To solve that problem, newly elected French president Sarkozy is proposing a unified European military, or at least a common foreign intervention force. This would be funded more generously than the regular armed forces, so that equipment would be ready for action. If that proposal fails, France wants to shrink its armed forces, so as to provide more money for maintenance and logistics, and a force that will not always be operating on a shoestring."

Kill Them All, Please

HA! Things are getting better rapidly in Iraq and only the people involved are noticing. If you want to read more, go for it! This is a good article that really explains what is happening between the two regional antagonists.

Iraq: Kill Them All, Please: "One of the big losers in the last few months has been Iran. The hundreds of millions of dollars spent on the Iraqi Shia militias evaporated quickly when the Iraqi army and police moved into militia strongholds in Baghdad and Basra. Many militia leaders were taken alive, and they talked, often of the support they received from Iran. Lots of embarrassing documents, were captured, and Iraqi officials hand carried these to Iran recently, to demand that the Iranians stop this kind of mischief. The Iranians agreed, but privately pointed out that most of the trouble was caused by extremists inside the Iranian government (mainly the Quds Force and Revolutionary Guards units). These fanatics are largely beyond control by anyone, but the Iranians apparently allowed as how these thugs would not be missed by many inside Iran, and the Iraqis should kill as many of them as possible, please. The Iranian government doesn't want to harm the growing economic relations between the two countries, and terrorism kind of does that."

The Pentagon Gets Ready For President Obama

What a disgusting thought. I bet he wants to use the money to pay terrorists to not attack us and to increase spending on crack heads in the projects. That will please both his base and our nations enemies.

The Obama is a messiah to the Left and a devil to the thinkers. I am not sure if I should fear him or pray for him.

Leadership: The Pentagon Gets Ready For President Obama: "U.S. military planners are working on how to deal with another round of major cutbacks, in terms of budgets and manpower. This is because one of the major candidates for Commander-in-Chief (president of the United States), Barak Obama, has a video in circulation, of a short speech he gave earlier this year, about how he planned on handling the Department of Defense. His major points were;"

Iranian Cash For Blood Campaign Collapses

It is sounding more and more like Iran is almost prepared for a Second Revolution. What can we do to help that along? Since the Theocracy has taken over, the Iranians have almost been prisoners of their religion. I would pity them, but they did put these thugs in power! Take the mullahs out to a large farm and wall them in. I wonder how long they will last?

Iran: Cash For Blood Campaign Collapses: "Cash For Blood Campaign Collapses

June 8, 2008: When the Mahdi Army began attacking British troops more frequently two years ago, the British conducted an intelligence effort to find out why. They discovered that Iran was paying members of the Mahdi Army up to $300 a month to make these attacks (which caused over a hundred British casualties). The Iranian connection was kept secret by the British until recently, since the recent defeat of the Mahdi Army is likely to bring the Iranian "cash for blood" campaign to light anyway.

Iranians are concerned with more mundane matters. The inflation and unemployment, despite constantly rising oil prices (from $11 a barrel a decade ago, to 12 times that today), has turned popular opinion against the government. This has been helped along by the new government campaign to eliminate "un-Islamic behavior" (this includes satellite TV, public displays of affection by men and women, fashionable clothing for women, having fun in general), and disillusionment with the government campaign to build nuclear weapons (which is now seen more as another government stunt to divert peoples attention from all the government screw-ups.) The activities of the religious police are all the more annoying in the face of rising drug addiction and more mundane crimes (like robbery, rape and murder). The American success in Iraq and Afghanistan has also been noted, and there're more jokes hear in the streets about arranging an American invasion."

Actor Rupert Everett Calls British Soldiers 'Whining Wimps'

When I first read this, I was appalled. Then I thought about it and had to sort of agree. The guy has a point! Sorry to the troops.

FOXNews.com - Actor Rupert Everett Calls British Soldiers 'Whining Wimps' - Celebrity Gossip | Entertainment News | Arts And Entertainment: "English actor Rupert Everett reportedly accused British soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan of being 'whining wimps.'

According to the U.K.'s Daily Mail, the 49-year-old gay actor — whose father is a retired major in the British Army — said the troops today 'are always whining about the dangers of being killed. Oh my God, they are such wimps now!' he said.

He was comparing them to those in the 19th century, in particular to that of soldier and adventurer Sir Richard Burton. Everett just completed a documentary about him for Britain's Channel 4, called The Victorian Sex Explorer.

“In Burton's day they were itching to get into the fray,' Everett was quoted in the Mail.

Everett, whose films include 'My Best Friend's Wedding' alongside Julia Roberts and 'The Next Best Thing,' has a history of making controversial remarks. Last week he described Americans as 'whiny victims' whose entire language is taken from 'Friends' and 'Sex and the City,' the Mail reported."

iowahawk is still in the running!

iowahawk: "'Hey stupid,' I am often asked, 'what happened to your presidential campaign?'

For your information Mr. / Ms.Smarty Pants, instead of bombarding you with attack ads and TV spin doctors and donation pleas, I've been quietly doing the precise thing a Presidential candidate should do -- working on the issues that matter to snide ingrates like you. Yes, while you were mesmerized by the hubbub and fooferaw of the so-called 'major party' nominating races, I was with my hand-picked 'trailer cabinet' of key policy advisors, putting together our 400-point specific Change Contract For Hopeful American Greatness Renewal. Some of the highlights:

Engagement With Our Adversaries

The world stage is complicated, and America cannot rely solely on military force to guard our national interests. We must never be afraid to meet with our adversaries for frank and open discussions over the issues that divide us. Thats why my first act as President will be to invite Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmedinejad to the White House for a top level negotiation session, without preconditions. 'Mr. President,' I will ask, 'what can we do to persuade your government to curtail its nuclear ambitions?' While he is laying out his terms, I will send the signal to my Vice President / secret button czar Jeff Goldstein, and SPLASH! crazyboy drops right into the Oval Office piranha tank.

Not only will my strategy of open international engagement help to save our over-extended military and cut down on White House piranha food bills, it will act as a deterent to emerging enemies, such as Canada."

Maybe the "Lies" are finally to be exposed?

This sounds totally cool. Read the article to get excerpts from the book. Maybe find the book to read it yourself, just make sure no Lefties or Arabs are around - the explosions of "brain" matter can get kind of messy. Do Lefties have brains? Or is it all just "feelings?"

Haifa Diary: Maybe the "Lies" are finally to be exposed?: "A resident of Caesarea who is a lover of antiquarian books and Judaica found in Budapest an old book, in Latin, which had been written by a Christian named Reland, chronicling his trip in the land of Israel in 1695/6.

The writer, Reland, a man of many talents - a geographer, a cartographer and a philologist – knew Hebrew, Arabic and Ancient Greek, as well as the European languages, perfectly. The book was written in Latin. In the year 1695, Reland was sent on a tour of the land of Israel or, as it was then called, Palestine. During that trip, he visited approximately 2500 places which had been inhabited and mentioned in the Bible or in the Mishnah (a collection of early oral interpretations of the scriptures compiled about A.D. 200.).

The manner in which he studied these places was interesting. First of all, he mapped out the land of Israel. Reland identified each of the places mentioned in the Mishnah or in the Talmud according to the source of its name. If the source of the name was Jewish, he sited the appropriate verse in the Holy Scriptures. If the source of the name was Roman or Greek, he sited the context in Greek or Latin. He even supplemented this and did a survey and a general census for each settlement."

Tracking the Coalition’s Afghan spring offensive

The Journal follows the state of all of the separate operations currently on going to slaughter the Taliban. I am sure that everyone would be happy to take prisoners, or just have those zealots stay home, but if they insist on coming out to kill, then they will die. Good riddance to bad trash.

Tracking the Coalition’s Afghan spring offensive - The Long War Journal: "Following the break in weather and an alarming increase in anti-government activity, Afghan and Coalition forces launched a blazing series of offensives throughout most of the insurgency-plagued areas of Afghanistan. Around May 15, nearly a month after the Taliban announced the formal launch of their spring offensive dubbed Operation Hibrat (lesson), Coalition forces struck out in major operations of their own. The multitude of operations include remote fronts in the war such as northwestern Badghis province near the Afghan border with Turkmenistan, and southwestern Farah province and central Uruzgan province, both of which endured heavy fighting since October. Further operations have been carried out in southeastern Zabul province; Kapisa province, which is a mere 50-kilometers northeast of Kabul; and in the insurgent saturated provinces of Kandahar and Helmand.

Afghan violence soared in 2007, with well over 7,000 people being killed across the country, more than half of whom were insurgents. The toll includes more than 900 Afghan police killed in the line of duty. Coalition forces suffered as well, with 110 US troops killed, the highest level ever in Afghanistan. Britain lost 41 soldiers, Canada lost 30, and other nations lost a total of 40, according to an Associated Press count."

With U.S. in slump, dual citizenship in EU countries attracts Americans

I am not sure what to make of this. Is it a trend? Is it just a quirky Leftist thing?

Maybe this is an honest trend that is not just for the Left? Is it a political thing? Is it a way to connect to our roots?

I am not sure what to think. Anyone have some pros and cons on this? What are your thoughts?

With U.S. in slump, dual citizenship in EU countries attracts Americans: "For millions of Europeans who braved the Atlantic Ocean for a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty and dreams of a lavish life, there was little thought of ever emigrating back.

Yet for a new generation of Americans of European descent, the Old Country is becoming a new country full of promise and opportunity.

Dual citizenship criteria

Ireland: Automatically grants citizenship to the child of an Irish-born citizen. A person can also claim descent based on a grandparent or great-grandparent as long as a grandparent had also claimed descent on or before the date of the person's birth.

Italy: For those born after 1948, citizenship is granted if their father or mother was a citizen at the time of the applicant's birth. Citizenship is also granted under these conditions:

Father is an American and the paternal grandfather was a citizen at the time of the father's birth.

If born after 1948, when the mother is American and the maternal grandfather was an Italian citizen at the time of the mother's birth.

Paternal or maternal grandfather was born in America and the paternal great-grandfather was an Italian citizen at the time of the grandparent's birth.

United Kingdom: Descent based on a grandparent allowable only in exceptional cases.

Limited US attack on Iranian Revolutionary Guards bases in sight

Seems that President Bush might be finally tired of losing our boys to the Iranians. About time!

Of course, this is great news about the IRGC being disbursed all over so that we can't hit them back. HA! Terrorists ARE cowards.

DEBKAfile - Exclusive: Limited US attack on Iranian Revolutionary Guards bases in sight: "Our Washington sources report that president George W. Bush is closer than ever before to ordering a limited missile-air bombardment of the IRGC-al Qods Brigade’s installations in Iran. It is planned to target training camps and the munitions factories pumping fighters, missiles and roadside bombs to the Iraqi insurgency, Lebanese Hizballah and Palestinian terrorist groups in Gaza.

Iran is geared up for counteraction.

US intelligence estimates that Tehran’s counteraction will likewise be on a limited scale and therefore any US-Iranian military encounter will not be allowed to explode into a major confrontation. Because this US assault is not planned to extend to Iran’s nuclear installations, Tehran is not expected to hit back at distant American targets in the Persian Gulf or at Israel.

DEBKAfile’s Iranian sources report, however, that Iran’s military preparations for countering an American attack are far broader than envisaged in Washington. Tehran would view a US attack on the IRGC bases as a casus belli and might react in ways and on a scale unanticipated in Washington.

Two days ago, Iran’s defense minister Gen. Mostafa Mohammad-Najjar warned: “Iran’s Armed Forces are fully prepared to counter any military attack with any intensity and to make the enemy regret initiating any such incursions.”

According to DEBKAfile’s Iranian and military sources, the IRGC had by mid-May completed their preparations for a US missile, air or commando assault on their command centers and bases in reprisal for Iranian intervention in Iraq.

These preparations encompass al Qods’ arms, most of them undercover, in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon and Sudan. At home, the Revolutionary Guards have evacuated their key bases together with manpower and equipment to regular army sites or temporary quarters in villages located in remote corners of eastern and northern Iran. Their main headquarters and central training center at the Imam Ali University in northern Tehran are deserted except for sentries on the gates.

Indoctrination seminaries and dormitories hosting fighting strength in the holy town of Qom are empty, as is the Manzariyah training center east of the capital.

Deserted too is the main training camp near Isfahan for insurgents and terrorists from Iraq, Afghanistan, Baluchistan, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. It is here that they take courses from friendly al Qods training staff on how to sabotage strategic targets such as routes, bridges and military installations, and the activation of the extra-powerful roadside bombs (EFPs) which have had such a deadly effect on American troops in Iraq."

Man Plows Into Crowd, Goes On Stabbing Rampage; 7 Reported Dead

Knives are too dangerous! Why are untrained murderous people allowed to buy and own knives without a license? Why aren't there backgroud checks and mandatory training for these deadly weapons?

FOXNews.com - Man Plows Into Crowd, Goes On Stabbing Rampage; 7 Reported Dead - International News | News of the World | Middle East News | Europe News: "'The suspect told police that he came to Akihabara to kill people,' said Jiro Akaogi, a spokesman for the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. 'He said he was tired of life. He said he was sick of everything.'

The violence began when he crashed a rented, two-ton truck into pedestrians. News reports said he jumped out and began stabbing the people he'd knocked down with the truck, then turned on horrified onlookers.

Police confirmed six deaths — five men and one woman — but they could not say whether the victims had died of injuries from the truck or were stabbed to death. NHK reported that a seventh victim had died, but police could not immediately confirm that."

First Soldier to Hit Beach Remembers D-Day

A nice remembrance.

FOXNews.com - First Soldier to Hit Beach Remembers D-Day - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News: "Leonard Schroeder remembers the day he led the charge that drove the Nazis out of France like it was yesterday.

'Well about 80 percent of the guys on the boat were sick, upchucking,' he told MyFOXTampaBay.com on the anniversary of D-Day. 'They were dropping all those bombs on the place where we were going in.'

He recalled he first had to figure out where to ground the boat, 'without getting bombed by our own guys,' Schroeder told the station, adding then they had to dodge Nazi missiles, and then machine guns as they charged the Nazi fort.

Schroeder keeps the boots he wore that day in his garage."

Obama the naive

Mr Bolton gets it right. Again. Since it was in the LATimes, I thought I would post the whole thing here in case they regret printing honest, educated opinion that does not slander anyone on the Right side of politics. Read it all!

Obama the naive - Los Angeles Times: "Obama the naive
His views on world affairs ignore history and imperil the U.S. and our allies.
By John R. Bolton
June 5, 2008

Barack Obama's willingness to meet with the leaders of rogue states such as Iran and North Korea "without preconditions" is a naive and dangerous approach to dealing with the hard men who run pariah states. It will be an important and legitimate issue for policy debate during the remainder of the presidential campaign.

Consider his facile observations about President Kennedy's first meeting with Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev, in Vienna in 1961. Obama saw it as a meeting that helped win the Cold War, when in fact it was an embarrassment for the American side. The inexperienced Kennedy performed so poorly that Khrushchev may well have been encouraged to position Soviet missiles in Cuba in 1962, thus precipitating one of the Cold War's most dangerous crises.

Such realities should cause Obama to become more circumspect, minimizing his off-the-cuff observations about history, grand strategy and diplomacy. In fact, he has done exactly the opposite, exhibiting so many gaps in his knowledge and understanding of world affairs that they have not yet received the attention they deserve. He consistently reveals failings in foreign policy that are far more serious than even his critics had previously imagined.

Consider the following statement, which was lost in the controversy over his comments about negotiations: "Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, these countries are tiny compared to the Soviet Union. They don't pose a serious threat to us the way the Soviet Union posed a threat to us. ... Iran, they spend 1/100th of what we spend on the military. If Iran ever tried to pose a serious threat to us, they wouldn't stand a chance."

Let's dissect this comment. Obama is correct that the rogue states he names do not present the same magnitude of threat as that posed by the Soviet Union through the possibility of nuclear war. Fortunately for us all, general nuclear war never took place. Nonetheless, serious surrogate struggles between the superpowers abounded because the Soviet Union's threat to the West was broader and more complex than simply the risk of nuclear war. Subversion, guerrilla warfare, sabotage and propaganda were several of the means by which this struggle was waged, and the stakes were high, even, or perhaps especially, in "tiny" countries.

In the Western Hemisphere, for example, the Soviets used Fidel Castro's Cuba to assist revolutionary activities in El Salvador and Nicaragua. In Western Europe, vigorous Moscow-directed communist parties challenged the democracies on their home turfs. In Africa, numerous regimes depended on Soviet military assistance to stay in power, threaten their neighbors or resist anti-communist opposition groups.

Both sides in the Cold War were anxious to keep these surrogate struggles from going nuclear, so the stakes were never "civilizational." But to say that these "asymmetric" threats were "tiny" would be news to those who struggled to maintain or extend freedom's reach during the Cold War.

Had Italy, for example, gone communist during the 1950s or 1960s, it would have been an inconvenient defeat for the United States but a catastrophe for the people of Italy. An "asymmetric" threat to the U.S. often is an existential threat to its friends, which was something we never forgot during the Cold War. Obama plainly seems to have entirely missed this crucial point. Ironically, it is he who is advocating a unilateralist policy, ignoring the risks and challenges to U.S. allies when the direct threat to us is, in his view, "tiny."

What is implicit in Obama's reference to "tiny" threats is that they are sufficiently insignificant that negotiations alone can resolve them. Indeed, he has gone even further, arguing that the lack of negotiations with Iran caused the threats: "And the fact that we have not talked to them means that they have been developing nuclear weapons, funding Hamas, funding Hezbollah."

This is perhaps the most breathtakingly naive statement of all, implying as it does that it is actually U.S. policy that motivates Iran rather than Iran's own perceived ambitions and interests. That would be news to the mullahs in Tehran, not to mention the leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah.

It is an article of faith for Obama, and many others on the left in the U.S. and abroad, that it is the United States that is mostly responsible for the world's ills. In 1984, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Jeane Kirkpatrick labeled people with these views the "San Francisco Democrats," after the city where Walter Mondale was nominated for president.

Most famously, Kirkpatrick forever seared the San Francisco Democrats by saying that "they always blame America first" for the world's problems. In so doing, she turned the name of the pre-World War II isolationist America First movement into a stigma the Democratic Party has never shaken.

This is yet another piece of history that Obama has ignored or never learned. There may be one more piece of history worthy of attention: In 1984, Mondale went down to one of the worst electoral defeats in American political history. We will now see whether Obama follows that path as well.

John R. Bolton is the former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. He is now a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute and the author of "Surrender Is Not an Option." "

Israeli minister says alternatives to attack on Iran running out

Can we just file this under "Duh!"? I think that even the West knows that not moving soon will create a major new threat, but it is one that the emotionally beaten down West would rather whine about than stop.

Israeli minister says alternatives to attack on Iran running out: "An Israeli deputy prime minister on Friday warned that Iran would face attack if it pursues what he said was its nuclear weapons programme.

'If Iran continues its nuclear weapons programme, we will attack it,' said Shaul Mofaz, who is also transportation minister.

'Other options are disappearing. The sanctions are not effective. There will be no alternative but to attack Iran in order to stop the Iranian nuclear programme,' Mofaz told the Yediot Aharonot daily.

He stressed such an operation could only be conducted with US support.

A former defence minister and armed forces chief of staff, Mofaz hopes to replace embattled Ehud Olmert as prime minister and at the helm of the Kadima party."
