Moving Day

I am starting to use my new blog site and allow this site to linger. At least to see what happens over there.

I hope you will continue to read my blathering.

Patriots Day

I usually don't post much more than a quick remembrance for this sad day, but I have been using Dogpile as my search engine and they need a nice Thank You for the image they put up for the day:

Since Google and the other major search engines do not care about this holiday, I am going to recommend that you also switch over to a Patriotic company.

My Life

I am sorry I have not been writing as much. I have been posting a few of the links that I have read, but not commenting on them right away. Life has been keeping me hopping lately.

I decided to work on my advanced degrees, which is tying me up with studies. I have been fighting with my injuries. Last week I was suffering from so much pain that I had trouble opening my eyes even with narcotics flooding my system. When you vomit from the pain that usually means you should not play with the computer for a while!

Thanks to the people who have been checking me out anyway. I am slowing down, but not out. I want to educate the people about security threats around the world and this blog is just a part of it, but a very important part. If you would like a comment on anything more quickly, just post a comment and I will put that article at the top of the que for my thoughts.

Thanks for your patience.

My thoughts on Blackwater

I was recently asked to comment about Blackwater and their PR spin.

Hi, CL

I think that Blackwater might do something like this to improve public relations, but it is also good business for them to work to help their employers (the US military) to do things. Since they work closely with the government at all levels, look at the good they do at the local level in US disaster areas, it is natural that they would help out when they can. By doing a small favor like moving freight, they have made friends in the Guard and Reserve and among the locals. Not a bad deal!

This means that they can now find a little help with locals for labor and interpreters, and maybe even recruit a few of the Americans for their company.

I like Blackwater, and even admit they have faults, but their faults are no where near as horrible and some people would have us believe.

For example, the whole mess that got them examined in Iraq, where they claimed to have returned fire, but it seems they fired first, I tend to split the blame. I think that if you have a bunch of people keyed up for an attack, even a little honest mistake can lead to a big disaster. In a war zone, good people will make mistakes and kill innocents. I feel sorry for the people in the crossfire, but the terrorists have a nasty habit of hiding in crowds before they fire on the security forces. They are the real criminals! It amazes me that the Blackwater boys are able to restrain themselves enough to not make that mistake more often.

Thanks for asking!

Also, you might want to review the use of private contractors since medieval times. General Washington used many private contractors to fight to free America from the British Empire and it has been that way until after WWII. Then the US military removed most, but not all civilian berths and replaced the civilians with trained fighting men. As a Grad Student you are an excellent researcher, I know! Good luck.

Wolf Howling: Interesting Posts From Around The Web - 19 June 2008

I love reading the Wolf, because he has no real life and can find all the good posts. Today's links are excellent, and I do not say that just because he linked to me! I love reading him anyway.

Thanks for the link!

Iraq and Afghanistan Wars

From MK down under, during the past week, Iraq experienced the lowest number of security incidents since March 2004. And back at home, Blonde Sagacity notes that charges against the Marines over Haditha continue to crumble. Hillbilly White Trash posts on the plans of the Haditha Marines to sue Jack Murtha for defamation, noting "Murtha [smeared the Haditha Marines] not because he actually believed in the Marine's guilt but because he saw some short term political advantage in it."

Betsy’s Page notes the death of Bench Mark rage. "[N]ow that they have almost all been met, the Democrats somehow neglect to mention what before they had sworn were the crucial sign to see if the surge had succeeded."

Subadei ponders the conundrum posed by the Taliban’s safe havens in Pakistan and what that means for NATO, the U.S., Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Glittering Eye provides an update on Afghanistan.

Political Insecurity is still having difficulty believing that he found praise for George Bush’s conduct of the war on terror in the opinion section of the Guardian – a British paper known on occasion to make the NYT editorial board appear as neocons.

Don’t miss the continuing series, Wednesday’s Heroes, at A Rose By Any Other Name.

IMAO: A Comment on Comments

With the new talk about having a blogger code of conduct imposed upon us, I found this version that I think I enjoy the most. This might just become mine too! Let me know if this works for you.

IMAO: A Comment on Comments: "THE IMAO COMMENT POLICY

* All comments you make are property of IMAO. As soon as a comment is made, we can do whatever we want with it. We can delete it, edit it, or print it out and frame it and sell it on eBay. You do have some rights, though, such as not having to give lodgings to soldiers and not being forced to incriminate yourself in a court of law (though we may edit comments so you incriminate yourself).

* Official policy of IMAO is that we don't read your comments. While I do in fact read every comment, if someone comes up to me and says, 'Why didn't you do something about this horrible comment?!' My response will always be, 'This is the first I've seen of it. I'll do something about it right away!'

* Because I say I'll do something about a comment right away doesn't mean I'll ever actually do something about the comment.

* Comments can be deleted for any reason... or no reason whatsoever. If a comment is deemed offensive, it may be deleted. If a comment is deemed too mean, it may be deleted. If a comment doesn't kiss my feet enough, it may be deleted. If a comment is in the way of an interblog highway, it may be deleted. If I'm fiddling around with blog settings before I've had my morning coffee, many comments may be deleted.

* The main purpose of comments is to stroke"

Dead soldier's parting gift: $100,000 party

Dead soldier's parting gift: $100,000 party

I read this story and was amazed. Here is a great guy. A heroic warrior who fears little in life, giving back to his friends by throwing them a party with his life insurance. This is an idea that might catch on! What a wake!

When I die, I just want to have my ashes dumped over the lake my fathers ashes are in. There are many things I wanted to talk to him about and that might be the best chance to get close.

My world view

The world today is entering a period of suspicion and fear. The beginning of each new century seems to bring a period like this and it is hard to fight, we, as a world people, must endure it while suppressing it as much as possible.

Muslim terrorists are murdering anyone who disagrees with them in any way. Other Muslims are afraid to speak out against these murderers for fear of being next and also because they know what is written in the Koran. The worst part is that I think Islam has a lot going for it, if they could drop the parts that include murder, abuse, genocide and slavery. Lopping off the heads of murderers and the hands of thieves sounds like good practice, for instance.

Communists lost almost all credibility in the last century and are now working from within the systems of the West. They have been slowly forcing their insanity and version of "social justice" through the governments that they can control.

I fear that the weakened West no longer has the will to stand up to the terrorists. The Communists have been striving for years to emasculate the West and this is the chance for the forces of Islam to move in and take over.

President Bush has stopped fighting the good fight. He is afraid to send troops to anywhere anymore because of the Communists and their protests and accusations. This loss of nerve and backbone might be the death knell for American and Western values. Bush has barely even stood up to this 'study' released in the Lancet declaring massive casualties in Iraq. This same group of "researchers" released inflated figures right before the last US election and some of the senior staff are regulars on the Stop the War rally circuit. I wonder if there might be a political connection to these guys and the terrorists who are being killed? I am also forced to wonder why Bush has refused to defend himself in more than a token way? Has he somehow found a stash of drugs the Clinton administration forgot?

I strongly favor a military sweep through our cities and towns searching for illegal foreign trespassers, terrorists and druggies. Why military? Because I do not believe that the law enforcement agencies require heavy weapons and yet they are already out gunned. Marines who have already fought through truly dangerous places full of trained military guerrillas and terrorists will have no problems cracking the skulls of a bunch of gangbangers, thugs, mobsters, and terrorists trying to hide in a truly civilian population. Which means they do not have access to as many or as powerful weapons as they would if they were on their home turf. Here the forces of evil always have to wonder if they are dealing with someone from the FBI or DHS.

Enough for tonight. I will continue this thought again soon. Stay tuned!

Went to the Marine Corps League meeting tonight. It is so much fun to talk to the Old Corps guys and listen to them talk about things. They tend to have a different outlook on life then most people today. I think it might just be because they consider me to be a kid. Anyone under fifty is considered a kid in that room! The next youngest guys were in Vietnam when I was born. Oy!

But I did learn that on the 28th of October the Sheriff will hold a meeting there to enlist Special Deputies. No badges or anything, but kind of like Reserve Deputies but even more informal. Only to be used in case of a major disaster in this region. I guess that I will have to go! At least to check it out.

Welcome aboard

This is just a first post, but I am going to try this since my posts on FriendFinder keep getting lost or delayed. I hope this works better.

My posts are mainly going to be about politics or security issues. My two hangups. I am a news junkee and will post as my work and family life give me time.

I am also going to post things that directly affect my local area in the security arena. My area is mid Missouri, USA. This stuff can also be used by others in other quiet sections of the country. Big city folk probably will think that many of the threats now felt by us in 'fly over country' are routine.

Welcome aboard all!
