BORELLI CONSULTING: Recreational Equipment Reviews

I am worried about planning at all times and am often looking for a good survival kit so that when the Left finally gets openly violent and starts to attack everyone else I will be prepared. Mr Borelli is a great guy for advice on this subject and I thought this review might help anyone else who is worried about the same stuff.

BORELLI CONSULTING: Recreational Equipment Reviews: "Depending on your background, whether or not you spent time in the military, what type of family you were raised in, etc you may or may not have received any training in the basic necessities of survival. It’s okay if you haven’t received any training because there are only about a gazillion survival kits available for sale through a boatload of catalogue and online companies. But which one do you need? This isn’t a review of which ones are best, but instead a look at what items such a “kit” should contain. Then you can select which one suits your purposes and/or build one of your own."

California Fire Relief

More good news about Blackwater. Thanks for all your help around the world!

Blackwater Worldwide Provides Relief within a Fire
90,000 Acres Burn, 211 Homes Destroyed

Maintaining a source of contractors with firefighting and disaster relief training and experience, Blackwater Worldwide stood poised to come to the aid of southern California amidst recent fires sweeping across San Diego County.

A few miles north of the U.S. and Mexico border, nearly 350 residents from the rural town of Potrero, were trapped by the fires that has destroyed at least 473 homes and buildings and consuming 90,440 acres of prime real estate. In this crisis, residents living a normal life found themselves suffering from lack of power, fuel, food, and relief supplies.

After the wildfires swept through the area, Blackwater donated food and supplies while offering aid in the form of supplies and service. State Sen. Dennis Hollingsworth (R-36th District) announced to the Potrero community that Blackwater has set up a “tent city” at nearby Barrett Junction, providing shelter for 200 displaced residents

Land near Dulzura, California was cleared of debris and flattened with where the tents, donated by Blackwater went up. Brian Bonfiglio, vice president of Blackwater West said, “Each tent has air conditioning, heating and lighting. The tents were inspected by county officials before residents moved in.”

Nearly 10,000 pounds of boxes arrived from Blackwater’s headquarters in Moyock, North Carolina. These supplies included tents, sleeping bags, clothing, televisions, DVD players, VCR’s, microwave ovens, boots and such creature comforts as coffee makers. Trailers arrived shortly after with male and female showers, one including three washing machines and three clothes dryers. These conveniences are being made to local residents, even those who don't stay at the tent city. Blackwater offered a three-month commitment to the displaced residents, including everything from food to shelter all free of charge.

Bonfiglio said, “Blackwater believes in helping communities and in keeping with the American spirit, wants to aid those in California in this great time of need. This is something we've always done. This is what we do.” "

NIMS/ICS Resource DVD: On the Street at Officer.com

I have taught this subject many times in the last few years and laugh at the people who try to learn it without a teacher to help explain and to provide examples. I have not seen this version of the training videos before, but I might get a copy soon to see how it compares to the FEMA ones.

I thank Mr Borelli for this article.

NIMS/ICS Resource DVD: On the Street at Officer.com: "For decades now the fire service has been managing large fire grounds through use of the Incident Management System. Within the past few years - since the attacks of nine eleven - it's been realized that such management can be applied to all serious disaster scenes. But, truth be told, the fire services, who have the most experience, simply don't have time to stop and train everyone else in public safety in how to use and work under the system. Enter the NICS/ICS Pro Edition training DVD. Distributed by Advanced Safety Products, Inc (+ASP), the training DVD provides basic training in how to use the NIMS system but also provides testimonials from those scene commanders who have used it in real disasters.

Now, with as much time as I spend sitting in front of a computer, I'm not usually one who looks forward to doing it more for training. That said, the NIMS/ICS disk is a DVD and wasn't specifically designed to be 'stand alone' training. Indeed the published material that came with it specifically states:

The DVD may be utilized in a standalone format (ICS 100 & 200) in conjunction with the free FEMA online testing programs, although this is not recommended, as it is a less effective method of teaching students."

Scouts praised for response to tornado in Iowa

It is too bad that Scouts are not as popular as they used to be. The good news is that no matter how much has changed over the years, they still train boys to be responsible. Thank the Lord!

Scouts praised for response to tornado in Iowa: "Boy Scouts who came to the aid of their colleagues after a tornado that killed four of their comrades and injured 48 people were hailed as heroes Thursday for helping to administer first aid and search for victims buried in their flattened campsite.

Iowa rescue workers cut through downed branches and dug through debris amid rain and lightning Wednesday night to reach the camp where the 93 boys, ages 13 to 18, had huddled for safety through the twister. They and 25 staff members were attending a weeklong leadership training camp.

Lloyd Roitstein, an executive with the Mid America Council of the Boy Scouts of America, reminded reporters at a news conference Thursday that the Boy Scouts motto is 'Be Prepared.'

'Last night, the agencies and the scouts were prepared,' he said. 'They knew what to do, they knew where to go, and they prepared well.'

Iowa Gov. Chet Culver praised the boys for 'taking care of each other.'"

26th MEU assists rescuers after Indiana rains

Thank the Lord for the Marines! Semper Fi, guys. A MEU needs to be ready for anything, and I think this qualifies. This is not a usual mission for you guys.

However, since this is an AP story, I do wonder what was left off.

WILMINGTON, N.C. — North Carolina-based Marines have joined rescue workers in Indiana as the state struggles with heavy rainfall that is flooding rivers to levels not seen since 1913.

As many as 11 inches of rain swamped Indiana over the weekend, flooding homes, threatening dams and closing several roads and highways.

Marines and sailors from Camp Lejeune’s 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit provided video and photos of the storm damage. They also used H-46E Sea Knight helicopters to help evacuate equipment and beds from a hospital.

The nearly 2,200 Marines and sailors were in Indiana completing three weeks of urban training. The unit will deploy in the fall to Europe and the Middle East. It is made up of aviation, ground and logistics units."
