For all the people who think that this movie is showing the average US soldier, please think! Can you name a group of 100,000 people which does not have a stupid criminal in it? Most military people I have met from Western countries think of themselves more as knights than any other segment of society. These guys want to help people and rescue maidens! They are not into the raping and pillaging that is seen in the Third World.
This rape and murder did happen. It was disgusting. The criminals who committed the crimes have been dealt with. By good soldiers! Notice how many good soldiers are in the reality of the act and wonder where they are in the movie.
Leftists like De Palma only see the criminals in an otherwise excellent organization. Funny that they don't see any criminals in the terrorists the army is fighting. What is wrong with this moron?

"The movie is an attempt to bring the reality of what is happening in Iraq to the American people," [U.S. director Brian De Palma] told reporters after a press screening.
"The pictures are what will stop the war. One only hopes that these images will get the public incensed enough to motivate their Congressmen to vote against this war," he said."
